1 Chronicles 22:12-13 (KJV)
Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God. Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
In one of the most significant pieces of advice recorded in the Old Testament, David, both father and king, prepares Solomon to build the temple. Although David gathered materials and made plans, the task of actual construction fell to Solomon. He encourages Solomon to be strong and courageous, not dismayed. David urges him to guard what belongs to the Lord, walking in God’s Ways and observing His Laws, Judgments, and Commands, as instructed by Moses. By doing so, Solomon will succeed in all he undertakes and wherever he goes, for God’s blessing depends on faithful obedience. David seeks to instill confidence in Solomon, reminding him that God’s blessings flow from faith and obedience. This powerful charge underscores that true success lies in pursuing divine wisdom and following His commands. David realized that total dedication is essential to please God and thrive. It inspires us to embody strength, courage, and obedience in all our endeavors, whether building, working, or leading, trusting that God will provide the strength needed to complete the tasks He sets before us. Ultimately, surrendering our lives to God calls us to obey His Word.
It is clear that seeking God and prospering is a promise that holds true for anyone who earnestly applies it. God delights in seeing His children earnestly pursue Him and embrace His Blessings with open hearts. As the disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to remember His words about God’s commands. In Matthew 22:37–38, He reminds us, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.” As believers, we are called to love the Lord passionately and to remain steadfast in our commitment to Him and His Word, regardless of the challenges we may face. The actions of others do not define what is right. The depth of our relationship with God ultimately impacts the breadth of our earthly outcomes. When we depend spiritually on Him, His Hand moves powerfully to bless us. The tasks He calls us to may seem overwhelming, leading to feelings of fear or anxiety about possible failure. However, our confidence rests not in our own abilities but in the promise that God is with us, ensuring that we will not falter until the work is complete. As we walk faithfully with God, He will meet all our needs, fight our battles, shield us from harm, fill us with joy and peace, and serve as our Healer. The Scripture says in Deuteronomy 28:1-2, “if ye shall hearken diligently to the Voice of the Lord thy God, all these blessings will come on thee and overtake you.”
Beloved, true success in God’s eyes comes from obedience to His Word. When you prioritize His way, embracing integrity and righteousness, you align yourself with His blessing, ensuring you fulfill your purpose. Make righteousness your weapon, for Heaven will defend and fight for all who stand right with God, every man, woman, family, church, and nation. Dedicate yourself to God by living with affection, commitment, fervor, seriousness, and separation for His cause on earth. Without knowing and doing the Word, you cannot prosper according to His desires for you. Therefore, listen closely to what God is revealing through His Word. Keep your ears inclined and your eyes focused, storing them in your hearts, for they bring life and health to all who find them. Obey God wholeheartedly and eliminate distractions that lead you away from Him; serve Him with full devotion, for He is the greatest giver of rewards. Commit your heart entirely to God today, placing Him at the center of your life. Remember, obedience to His statutes is the pathway to true prosperity, so lead with courage, for His promise accompanies faithful service.
