Obey and Prosper

Joshua 1:7(KJV)

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

God after the death of Moses instructed Joshua to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land. The Lord told him to be strong and courageous and that wherever the sole of his foot shall tread upon, He will give to him. He also promised Joshua that no man would be able to stand before him all the days of his life and that He will never leave or forsake him. However, all these promises of God to Joshua were conditional on the basis that Joshua observed every bit of the commandments. It is clear from the above Scripture that Joshua’s prosperity and good success depended on total obedience to God by meditating on the Book of the Law day and night.

The key to receiving all spiritual and physical blessings is in our obedience to God’s commandments. When we “observe to do” what God has commanded, we are setting ourselves up for success. Good success is a way of life that comes from being established in the Word of God. It comes from hearing and obeying the Word so consistently that it begins to guide our actions even when we are not consciously thinking about it. It is written in Deuteronomy 29:9 “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.” Obedience wins the heart and favor of God. Job 36:11 affirms this: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” God’s secret formula to prosperity is with them that are obedient to His Word. Our prosperity and success depend on our ability to imitate God, His Word and obedience to the Holy Spirit.

Beloved, living a life of prosperity and good success comes by meditating on the Bible day and night and obeying all written in it. That is, to be successful in life you need to be properly acquainted with the Word of God. This is because the battle of faith is not fought once and then forgotten. If you are going to live in victory, you have to fight it again and again. And to fight the good fight of faith, you will have to continually draw courage from the Word of God. Put God and His Word first in your life. Let the Word fill your thoughts because it provokes inspiration. Inspiration provokes revelation, revelation provokes faith and when you act in faith, there will be manifestation. Do not get off track either to the left or right and you will be prosperous wherever you go. Keep your focus on the Word because the secret of success is concentration and determination of fulfilling the Word, and the cause of failure is broken focus. Examine your life and disconnect from every form of distraction. Don’t be among those who see God’s Word as outdated, to their own frustration and life-time agony.

O Lord our God, thank You for Your Word this day, strengthen me to do Your Will and obey all Your commandments in Jesus Name.
