Only God Is Good

Luke 18:19(KJV)

And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? None is good save one, that is, God.

Our anchored Scriptures tell us that only God is good, so we cannot identify ourselves as good. Jesus answering the ruler said none is good but God. He says goodness comes not from us or our sincere efforts to keep the Law but from God alone. Romans 3:12 says, “They are all gone out of the way they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Apostle Paul reveals the shocking realization that none is good, for God’s perfect goodness magnifies our sinfulness. There is none who can lay claim to being righteous and guiltless, unblemished and worthy of praise and honor, in the sight of God, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all need Jesus Christ our Savior. Although no one is good except God the Father, as Christians, God expects us to take on His attributes.

God’s goodness shows up in our lives every single day. Although we often think of His goodness when something big happens, His goodness abounds daily, even in the tiniest things around us. In His love for us, God worked out a way that His righteousness, excellence, and perfection could cover us as humans. His love for us is so great that through His Son, Jesus, He shares His goodness with us. Psalms 100:5 says, “For the Lord is good, and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. The price God paid for our salvation reveals His goodness to us. He decided to be good to us because He is good. God made all things, rules all things, and works all things together for our good. God is working it out so His children can do good things. The Bible says in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light, so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” As believers, we are to show the rest of the world how to live and influence our generation with our good works.

Beloved, if you want to access the goodness of God, believe His Word concerning your life and act in line with His Word. Feed on the goodness of God because taking it for granted is damning. He is still calling you to show His Goodness and give you rest. Refuse to allow your circumstance to dictate to you. Don’t allow the feelings, the pressure, or whatever is happening around you to determine your state. You belong to God, and God cannot fail. If God cannot fail, you cannot either. Nothing is too hard for Him. Today is the day to carry your Cross and follow Him, for He desires all men to enjoy His salvation. Determine to spend time with God in prayer and worship. Focus on letting God direct and teach you to be a better person. Let God’s goodness flow through you and out of you into others. His love is enough, and His goodness is overwhelming. There is hope for eternal life THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, OUR LORD. Thank God for His glorious plan of redemption for your life. Celebrate the wonderful truth of God’s perfect gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ – not of works, lest any man should boast. Keep being faithful. Keep doing the right thing. Keep trusting in God and have faith in the finished works of Christ that guarantees victory. Knowing that you have won, and you only fight to manifest that victory, yet not you but Him through you. Remember to dry up your tears, and don’t give the devil your vision because you need clear eyes to see and taste God’s Goodness.

O Lord, You are the only good God, and there is no evil in You. I connect to Your goodness in Jesus’ Name.
