Orderliness

1 Corinthians 14:40(KJV):

Let all things be done decently and in order.

Paul concludes 1 Corinthians 14 with this general rule that everything be done decently and in order. God is the Author of order and not of disorderliness. There is order and protocol in Heaven. God is a God of order and has established statutes that should guide and protect our life. In the beginning, God ordered the course of the universe by His Word. By His Word, the Almighty ordered the creation of the universe. So, it is very vital to do things in order. To be orderly means to be organized in thoughts, behavior, and appearance doing things at the right time rather than haphazardly and impulsively. To do tasks in order means to follow the format, principles, and protocols laid down by a higher authority. To do well in our race to Heaven, we must understand and follow this divine order and protocol.

In our worship of God, our actions must be decent and orderly to glorify God and be an example for non-Christians to convert unbelievers. God is a God of order, so our worship is to be with good order, which we are not at liberty to violate. It is not only right that God wants us to worship; He wants us to worship Him as He commands that He be worshipped. Our approach to worship is not simply to do whatever we want or what seems convenient or what is traditional or the latest but to do what the Bible says we are to do. Jesus taught us to worship Him in Spirit and truth. Our worship of God must be full of life, for life is not in opposition to order; it only dies when it loses its binding order. A Spirit-filled service or worship will be orderly and have God’s Word at its heart. Hebrews 8:5 says, “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.” When the Lord admonished Moses to build the tabernacle, He told him to follow the prescribed order. In other words, we cannot do God’s things our way; they must be done His way, for He won’t honor us if we’re out of order.

Beloved, let everything be done orderly. In your life, learn to maintain order. The Holy Spirit doesn’t thrive in an atmosphere of chaos. As long as there’s disorder in your life, you can’t walk effectively with the Holy Spirit. When you violate the law of order, you disobey the will of God. Nothing is done just for fun in Heaven; everything in Heaven is done to reflect God’s will, law or order. So, in serving God, you must do everything decently and in order, for the disorganized can never get anything done. The disorderly and unskilful will chase everything simultaneously and catch nothing at the end of the day. The disobedience to God’s order brings chaos and calamity. Be obedient and stop complicating your life by trying to figure out everything. Organize your time, thoughts, work, finance, and every minute of your day. Follow the prescribed order of things; follow the Word if you want divine results. As you strive for mastery in all you do, remember to be orderly, and your results will be glorious.

O Lord, set my life in order and help me live for You in Jesus’ Name.
