Overcome Worry

Matthew 6:25 (KJV)

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

As we fight the good fight of faith, our minds are constantly in battle whether to believe the Word of God or the lies of the devil. Believing the lies of satan and his agents turns to worry, and God is vehemently against worry. The Bible teaches the children of God not to worry. Worry is a weapon that the enemy uses to subject people to gruesome bondage. Worrying will only make us meditate on the thoughts of satan. It produces stress, tension, pain, and death. Whatever we allow to occupy our minds will also rule our lives because worrying magnifies the problem; what we focus on will always get bigger. At the end of our worrying sessions, the issue or problem never gets solved. Instead, it gets magnified. This could help us rethink our tendency to worry because it suggests that it does not improve the situation concerning our lives but adds sicknesses and diseases. Worry and anxiety concerning any matter can end up taking our lives!

Jesus unequivocally advises His disciples to banish worries about their bodily needs, urging them instead to recognize God’s provision for even the tiniest and most seemingly insignificant creatures. The logic follows that if God ensures the sustenance of birds and the adornment of flowers, He will undoubtedly provide for His image-bearers, who are redeemed through the atonement of His Son. Jesus empowers us to conquer anxiety by redirecting our focus from self-concern to the Kingdom. Worry finds its root in the relentless pursuit of self-preservation and personal gain. Worry is like a rocking chair; it sets us in motion but never gets us anywhere. So, satan will do everything possible to drop a burden into our hearts because he knows that to worry is to be stagnant, but the joy of the Lord is our strength. Many are down with worrisome burdens, but worrying does not solve the problem; it worsens the situation. We must cast our burden on Jesus Christ and not take them back. The Greater One is within us, and He can change our stories. Proverbs 12:25 says, “Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.” A kind word makes a difference in the life of anyone battling with worry. Our sayings can be what keeps a person going or destroyed. Our compliments can put a spring back into someone’s step or not. King David encouraged himself with these inspired words in Psalm 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” The desire of God for His people is not to be broken-hearted but always filled with joy. God also promises in Isaiah 26:3 that He will keep us in perfect peace when we keep our minds on Him. What a great alternative to worrying!

Beloved, put an end to worry, anxiety, or fear of the future in your life by placing your trust in God. When you begin to worry or feel anxious, pray to God and ask for His guidance. Feed your faith and saturate your mind with God’s promises. He has promised always to lead you to triumph in Christ. By immersing yourself in His Word, you will banish worry and fill your heart with faith and hope to conquer every aspect of life! Today, choose to speak encouragement, victory, and hope. Focus on the good. Be the one who lifts others and restores them. Avoid people, pictures, or places that can trigger worry! Trials are essential for anyone destined for the top, but this one will pass away! This problem will end up for your good! Maintain an atmosphere of laughter by force. Since life is in phases, determine that in any stage you find yourself, let laughter never be lost from your heart. So, before you allow the good to pass you by due to many worries, brighten up, tighten yourself in prayer, and leave your burdens with God. The last time you worry is the last forever. In this season and beyond, you will no longer limit God with your worrying again in Jesus’ Name. Remember, your words carry life, hope, healing, encouragement, and new beginnings.

O Lord, I am turning my cares over to You. Strengthen and help me trust You with my worries in Jesus’ Name.
