John 16:24(KJV)
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
In today’s anchor Scripture, Jesus says we should ask in His Name until our joy is overfull. The Scripture shows us the master key Jesus gave His disciples by teaching them that prayer must be in His Name for us to receive the answer. In other words, no prayer is worth the breath it takes to utter that leaves the Lordship of Jesus Christ out of the equation. We cannot overestimate the importance of prayer when we consider what those who pray gain from it. Praying in the Name of Jesus is more a blessing for us than for God. It brings us into harmony with God’s eternal plan and prepares us to receive God’s goodness. Prayer does not change who God is, but prayer changes us. For Christians, prayer serves as a means to meet all our needs. For this reason, God did not place any limitations on prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray without ceasing. Prayer symbolizes trust and total dependence on God. Prayer equally provides details about future events. No wonder the Bible in Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” God has given His unblocked number to those who trust Christ.
As children of God, we have the keys of the kingdom to bind and loose. Jesus has given us the permission and the power to lose in Heaven what we desire here on earth in agreement with His Will for us. Many, through prayer, have received answers to their prayers. The Bible detailed significant prayers like that of Solomon at the temple’s dedication or the quick one that David prayed to God to turn the counsel of Ahitophel to foolishness. For example, Zechariah received the birth of John at the place of intercession. God revealed His plan and purpose for John during prayers. If we want God to disclose our tomorrow to us, PRAY until our JOY is FULL. We pray until something happens if we do not desire to remain in the dark regarding fundamental issues of our lives. Jacob prayed until he became victorious and had his name changed at Peniel. The prayer of Elijah that brought about the rain was not just a five-minute prayer. He prayed and prayed again until something happened. Hannah prayed until something happened in her life, and so did Jabez. Daniel prayed until Angel Michael brought him the answer(Daniel 10:12-13). We must begin to pray until God draws His attention to our petition. Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Our God is a prayer answering God, and He will prove it beyond every doubt in our lives!
