Proverbs 16:5(KJV)
Everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Pride is the most dangerous and destructive character trait anyone can possess. The blessed and dreadful God of Heaven and earth abhors and hates proud people. God sees our pride, and He will judge it. He is extraordinarily disgusted and intensely hostile to the arrogant and their pompous opinions. Pride leads to spiritual decline that manifests in immorality, greed, and worldliness which attract divine judgment. The lifestyle of pride is one of the easiest ways to crash in life. It is a significant limitation to destiny fulfillment. No matter how loaded the potential, walking in pride, guarantees no future. Job 40:12 says, “Look on everyone that is proud, and bring him low; And tread down the wicked in their place.”
Pride is a vital factor in the abortion of destiny (Isaiah 14:12-15, Genesis 3:5). Pride affected, ruined, or destroyed the futures of Lucifer, Pharaoh, Vashti, Nebuchadnezzar, and Herod. Pride makes people too puffed to be instructed. And where there is no instruction, there is mediocrity and stagnation. James 4:6 says, “……….. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Viewing ourselves in the mirror of self-importance reflects a distorted image. Self-elevation positions us for a fall. Our privileged position of authority, wealth, or academic achievement may be sources of temptation to become proud. Our accomplishments are nothing to boast about, and they will be forgotten before our funeral when we cannot recall our names. Our soul lives in a house of clay; the foundation of our body is mere dust, so why be proud? Our attitude determines elevation. The way we lead our lives affects the extent of our rise. Many are so full of pride that they do not know that it is their pride that has gotten them grounded. Romans 12:3 says, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Some even think without them, nothing works better. Because of their pride, they make all manner of arrogantia statements.
Beloved, pride is the foundation for destruction. It ruins lives and destinies, and it will never go unpunished. It can bring down a person from a high position. Today, cultivate the right attitude for a quality destiny and avoid a life of pride and arrogance. Don’t put yourself in a situation where God has to resist you. Don’t overestimate yourself! Humble yourself and keep a watch on yourself. When you catch yourself getting puffed up with your greatness, repent and remember that every good thing you enjoy and every bit of success you’ve had has come by the Grace of God and by His Power. Don’t become a legend in your mind. Instead, humble yourself beneath the mighty Hand of God, and let God do the exalting—that prevents some very painful falls. Always remember that you are nothing if not for God. You have not done anything differently or better than those who are not yet at your level. To escape the spirit of pride, you need to be genuinely born again so that the Spirit of God may dwell in you. Therefore, repent of your prideful behavior and God will not punish you.
O Lord, I repent from every form of pride and arrogance in my life in Jesus’ Name.
