Resist Every Backsliding

Proverbs 14:14(KJV)
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
From our anchored Scripture a backslider in the heart is filled with his/her own ways and will surely get what they deserve. Backsliding begins in the heart, it is a gradual process that occurs over a period of time until it gets to a noticeable stage. To backslide is to let go of God, no longer committed to the things of God and after the treasures of this world. The backslider loses interest in the Lord, in the Bible, in prayer, fellowship and witnessing, and eventually turns to the world. When a believer becomes filled with his or her own ways, forgets about God and not serve Him faithfully that believer has begun to backslide. When the passion of God grows cold, the passion for sin increases making the believer lukewarm in the things of God.
We often find some who starts off very well in the Christian race and then cools off later. Some people who used to be very hot for the Lord may even leave the Lord completely. Bible makes it very clear that we should not go back to our vomitus. When we turn away from the Lord (1 Kings 11:9) or grow cold and leave our first love (Revelations 2:4) we will experience loss of joy, happiness, peace of mind and power. Backsliders easily justify themselves only to stay in their comfort sinful zone and their popular Scriptural verse is Matthew 7:1. The fact is that they are easily offended by any Bible teaching that addresses their lifestyle of sin. When you see someone who has always been fervent in the things of God now giving excuses for being absent from church programs, it is only a matter of time…… but that will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name. Hebrews 6:4-6 says “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” Backsliding is like crucifying Jesus afresh and putting Him to open shame. We cannot serve God and please the world at the same time. The ones who are going to become great must make up their minds never to look back.
Beloved, God wants to heal your backsliding. Stop the excuses and refuse to be carried away by the spiritual idleness of this age. Resist every habit and practice that will reduce your fire and spiritual intensity in God. Any friendship with the world or association with anyone that will impede your progress to the place of greatness must be removed. The past is gone, and the present must be faced with proper zeal and commitment. God does not want any sinner to die in his sins, neither does He want His children to be at the mercy of the devil. It doesn’t matter how far down you have gone, He is ready to make you a better child of His. Today, examine yourself and if you have backslidden in any way, repent and return to God. If you have fallen, why not just say this prayer that will change your life so that you also will experience a lifestyle of supernatural exploits, joy and peace. “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Personal Savior. Thank You Jesus for saving me!” After saying this short prayer you are now born again! I invite you to fellowship with us. God bless you!
O Lord, thank You for Your Word, I ask for the grace to maintain my fire intensity always in Jesus’ Name.
