2 Corinthians 4:18(KJV)
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
In his letter of encouragement to the Corinthians, Apostle Paul reminded them to look beyond things that are seen, for they are eternal. If we focus our lives only on what is seen, we are focusing on the temporary. The things that we see are subject to change. So, we put our faith in the unseen eternal realm, where things are not subject to change. If we place our faith in the unseen, we will find that the Spirit of God gives us grace and trust in even the darkest moments. By allowing God to grant us a vision beyond what we see with our natural eyes, we can eliminate all our cares, worries, troubles, anxieties, stress, fear, and past hurts. Focusing on the things beyond us is the best rule for all Christians. Thus, where we are going is more important than what we are experiencing now. Looking beyond our problems make us more focused in life. God’s eternal purpose for our lives is to press ahead and not look back. His manifestation becomes scarce when we are not focused. That is, looking to the future provokes His goodness.
Life is temporal and a journey. As for every journey, there is always a starting point and a destination. In between the starting point and the destination, there are lots of circumstances that commonly challenge us. It is easy to become consumed by our situations in life. To see our situations as a dead end will make it difficult for us to appreciate and see the goodness of God. Therefore, we are to quit looking at our situations and instead look up and see the goodness of God. No matter what happens in this shifting, changing world we live in, the promises of God will forever be the same. As Christians, our faith built on a solid and unshakable foundation comes from knowing that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Even when our circumstances and relationships change, God’s grace and principles will never change. Elisha answered his servant, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” What we can see often makes us unable to see in the spirit what’s happening.
Beloved, see beyond what you see with your natural eyes. Do not be moved by your current situation. Learn to see yourself in God because you are loaded inside! While today’s challenges are temporary, God Almighty’s promises are eternal. He’s the God who spoke the world into existence, and He’s the God who set the stars in space. He is more powerful than every obstacle, powerful than any setback, and can do exceedingly and abundantly above and beyond what you could imagine. Know that whatever suffering you endure now, be it pain or injustice, cannot nullify God’s plan or purpose for your life and eternity with Him. Stop looking at what you are going through; it will soon pass away. Lift your eyes and look to Jesus, the Author, and Finisher of your faith! Don’t lose eternal treasures because of your focus on temporary things. Today, to look beyond that circumstance that has laid you back. Instead, see God’s goodness in it. See what God has promised you in His word. Lift your eyes of faith and look beyond where you are right now because your victory is only as far as your eyes can see. Look at God’s goodness; He will make every path straight for you. Believe that God will take you further and faster than you ever thought possible. Trust that your times are in His hands. Know that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Remember, keep seeing where you are going, for God will never allow you to be ashamed!
O Lord, give me the grace to always see beyond what lies before me in Jesus’ Name.
