Psalm 5:3(KJV)
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
David, a man after God’s heart, wrote Psalm 5. The Psalm has long been a source of inspiration for believers who seek to start their day off on the right foot. With unwavering determination, David persisted in prayer, fully confident that God would hear him. He vowed never to live without prayer and decided to devote quality time to communing with God through prayer. David said in Psalm 63:1-2, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.” The Scripture clarifies that David was very dedicated to God; his thirst for God made him seek God early, even in a dry and thirsty land. As the soil cracks and yawns and opens its mouth in dumb petitions, so does David’s soul breaks with his longings for God. David’s soul felt parched and dry, which made him cry out for the Presence of God; his thoughts of God kindled in him with burning desires.
In prayer, there is a mutual exchange between the believer and God. By praying in accordance with God’s will and the Name of Jesus, the Lord expects us to have faith and confidently “look up” to receive. While God will always fulfill His part by granting our requests, we must first pray and then confidently receive the answers through our unwavering faith. One can significantly impact the course of their day by taking time in the morning for Bible reading and prayer. This habit leads to making better choices throughout the day and ending the day positively. As we begin our day with prayer, we invite God’s power into our lives. We open the door for Him to step into our problems and situations, enabling Him to do what we cannot achieve on our own. In doing so, we allow the Almighty to take control and bring His divine intervention into our lives. In Mark 1:35, we see that Jesus kept this pattern, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Jesus, the Son of God, prioritized getting up early, seeking God, and praying. Jesus took hold of each day through this spiritual practice and directed it according to His will. Undoubtedly, the morning sets the tone for the day, and the spiritual realm obeys commands given in the Name of Jesus during those early hours. Job 38:12-13 says, “Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?”
Beloved, make time every morning to seek God’s Presence for a few minutes or longer. Layout your prayers before God and seek Him expectantly, for when you pray, God listens. Try to keep your appointment with God in the morning, especially during the early hours, and anticipate a visit from Him. Use your morning time wisely by praying, worshiping, and studying the Word. Make sure that amidst meeting the needs of all kinds in your life, you will not neglect prayer because devotion to prayer in the morning carries the mercies of the Lord, Divine preservation, compassion, and faithfulness of the Lord. When you encounter the morning, you take deliveries of supernatural strength, divine favor, spiritual potency, and a renewed sense of vitality. As you begin to pray with faith, so shall all your expectations in accordance with God’s Word come to pass in your life in the Name of Jesus. Today, invoke the power of God, and He will answer you by fire. Pray until the God of Elijah manifests Himself powerfully in your situations. Pray without minimizing what you expect from God. Remember, bring your requests and wait expectantly every day!
O Lord, I connect to Your grace to maximize my morning time. Help me not to miss Your visitation for my life in Jesus’ Name.
