1 Peter 4:10(AMP)
Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].
Apostle Peter reminds us that the spiritual abilities or gifts God has given each of His children are there to allow His generosity to flow through us to others. A spiritual gift is special divine empowerment bestowed on believers by the Holy Spirit to serve one another. The spiritual gift is to be used in God’s way according to His grace and discernment to help one another execute their mission on earth. In other words, we are uniquely gifted to serve each other. Service is a vital aspect of our walk with God and it makes our walk with God meaningful and fruitful. Literarily, service is assisting the visions, desires, and aspirations to see fulfillment. Assisting others to see the achievement of their vision makes God help us to fulfill our vision. Joseph interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker; the outcome was that God gave him the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dreams. It is written in Galatians 5:13-14, “For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the [a]sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through [b]love serve and seek the best for one another. For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is fulfilled in one precept, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, you shall have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit].”
The truth is, there can be no wasted service. How we serve today determines our rewards tomorrow. What we make happen for others, God will make happen for us(Dr. Mike Murdock). Ephesians 6:7-8 says, “rendering service with goodwill, as to the Lord, and not [only] to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive this back from the Lord, whether [he is] slave or free.” We, as servants must be faithful in our service to God and people, knowing that the Lord will reward us for whatever good we do. Our God is not partial, but He is a perfect and just God who not only sees our works but has not forgotten what we have done in our service to Him and our continuous help to others. It is part of His Nature to call our service into remembrance for adequate compensation. It is not in the character of God to forget anything like we do, for He is the All-knowing God.
Beloved, make a decision to render quality service to God. Pay any price; make any sacrifice until you make excellence happen in your work to God! God is the MOST-HIGH; He deserves the best from anyone forever. Wherever you find yourself, do something useful for God, and you are sure to receive divine elevation as a gift from Him in return, for He never forgets His people’s labor of love. Today, struggle for service and not for position and titles, for service will give you status. Those who fight for status only end as statues. That shall not be your portion in Jesus’ Name. Make yourself available to serve in any capacity. Put your whole heart into what you are doing, for better ideas and insight will come and enhance the quality of your service because without burning desire(passion), there is no excellence of service. If your service is pastoring a church, singing in the choir, or cleaning the house of God, seek the best and attractive way to render that service. Remember, there can be no quality leadership without quality service. Until you have served successfully, you cannot lead effectively.
O LORD, baptize me with the spirit of service, and give me the heart to serve You and humanity in Jesus’ Name.
