Set A Good Example

Titus 2:7(KJV)

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

It has been established that the lifestyle of insincerity is a deadly enemy of destiny. It is one of the most significant reasons behind the downfall of many believers today. Loving God is not just by words; it must be reflected in all we do and our approach to life. The moment we are saved, we can no longer walk as those heading for eternal damnation, as the word of God must be obeyed in its entirety. Our acts should challenge us to share our faith through our actions. Little acts of thoughtfulness, kindness, or forgiveness will glorify God. Paul explained to Titus the importance of being a good example himself. As Paul put it, “Show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned.” In other words, we do it with integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech whenever we are handling God’s word. While possessing expertise is crucial in conveying the truth, an admirable personal life is equally important. It establishes our words’ credibility and trustworthiness and helps us effectively communicate our message to others. Without an honorable life, our words will lack the necessary impact to influence and guide others toward the truth.

As believers, we must set an example for others by following the truth of God. This fundamental principle is often overlooked. If we, as preachers or teachers, do not practice what we teach, none will take our guidance seriously. Within the community of ministers of the gospel, there is a growing trend of shifting away from the true gospel towards a more socially oriented message. This shift is based on the false notion that people are not interested in hearing the truth. Furthermore, some ministers think that if they preach the true gospel, it will be too hard for people to accept, and most will turn away. Consequently, they dilute their message. However, such ministers need to learn from Jesus, as demonstrated in John 6:60-67. Many individuals claim to love God, but their actions raise doubts about the genuineness of their faith. Some Christians indulge in vices like alcohol consumption, lying, gossiping, cheating, and hurting others. Even after deliverance, some believers continue to engage in addictive behaviors. Sadly, some believers selectively obey the Bible, ignoring certain aspects that do not align with their preferences. This should not be the case. As saved individuals, we must renounce all forms of dishonesty immediately. Many people have lost their position because of insincerity, so don’t be like them.

Beloved, demonstrate integrity in all of your actions and teaching. Strive to exhibit exemplary behavior in both your actions and words. Ensure that your life is a positive reflection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Leave no room for legitimate criticism from your adversaries, and give them no opportunity to speak ill of you. One lie or denial can destroy a beautiful relationship. When your Christianity lacks character, there is nothing more to it. A true character begins with Jesus Christ. You cannot afford to be careless in your Christian walk because you have an adversary, the roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. To be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, you must be sincere with yourself. Do not struggle to create impressions; struggle to express what God has put inside you. Never sleep over insincere acts because no one knows when Jesus will come. Your positive actions toward others should show the world that you can live differently because of the Holy Spirit’s work in you.

O Lord, grant me the grace to sincerely address every weakness in my life in Jesus’ Name.
