The Groanings of The Holy Spirit

Romans 8:26-27(ESV)

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Prayer is very significant for every Christian. Prayer connects us to God. It is a ladder we can climb to enter God’s Presence. In other words, prayer is two-way communication between the believer and our Father in Heaven, the Almighty God. There are times in our lives we don’t always know what to pray for because of our imperfections and don’t know what our earthly future holds. The wonderful thing is that even when we are at the end of our rope when we don’t know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us! The Holy Spirit helps us when we don’t have the words to pray, and He teaches us what we are to pray for and how. In other words, no matter how good we are at crafting prayers, the Holy Spirit knows better what we need to say when praying at any given time. He will help us if only we can pray about issues in the spirit. The Spirit comes to the aid of believers baffled by the mystery of prayer, taking their concerns to God with an intensity far greater than we could ever imagine. Thus, the Holy Spirit can cover grounds that we cannot reach. We need the Spirit of grace and supplication to subdue the weakness of the flesh and excel in our prayer lives. The same Spirit empowers us for effectiveness, intensity, and productivity on the prayer altar. So, the Holy Spirit is the spring of all desires toward God, often more than words can utter. The Holy Spirit, who also searches the hearts, can perceive the mind and will of the Spirit and intercedes on our behalf. In other words, the indwelling of the Holy Ghost empowers us for exploits.

Demonstrating our daily dependence on God through praying in the Holy Spirit is essential. Praying in the Holy Ghost is the only way Christians can solidify their foundation in God. When we pray in the Holy Ghost, the Bible makes us understand we speak not to men but to God; we speak mysteries by the power of the Spirit. Jude 1:20 says, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,” Jude urges us to pray in the Holy Ghost to build our faith. It is principal to note that praying in the Spirit plays a vital role in our quest to access more of God’s Will and Glory. 1 John 5:14–15 says, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” The greatest thing about having the Holy Spirit’s help in our prayers is that the Holy Spirit always wants God’s will. The more we pray in the Spirit, the more of His Presence we will encounter, leading us into more of His Glory. Praying in the Holy Spirit also helps us access the higher realms of revelation and the mystery of God(1 Corinthians 14:2).

Beloved, pray consistently in the Holy Spirit, and you will never pray amiss. Pray regularly in tongues and trust that the Holy Spirit has good plans for you. Pray at least for one hour daily, speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives you utterance. When you do that, there is always accuracy of words side by side with the will of God. In that process, you build yourself into a high-powered spiritual edifice that is unmoved. Today, consider starting your prayers by praying in the Spirit and inviting the Holy Spirit to take over and guide you when praying to God. Take charge of your day before you step out and form the habit of speaking in tongues. Saturate your mind with the Word of God and pray endlessly in the Spirit, and your life will advance to enjoy the ever-increasing glory of God. As you continue to pray in the Spirit, the Good Shepherd will direct your path and keep you in His Mercy, Strength, and Love. Remember, God has graciously given you the Holy Spirit to help you by interceding for you in your weakness.

O Lord, help me to overcome my limitations in prayer and let the Holy Spirit continually intercede for me according to Your Will in Jesus’ Name.
