The Lord As My Shepherd

Psalm 23:1(KJV) A Psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

The Psalm clearly shows our total dependence on God as our Shepherd provides for our needs. Shepherds provide guidance, protection, and care for their sheep, ensuring they have everything they need. By referring to God as the Shepherd, David introduced the most personal name of God in the Bible. David had been a shepherd himself. He had fought wild animals to protect his flock. David knew what it meant to be a shepherd. He knew what it was to take care of sheep and what it meant to leave them to the challenges of life. David knows the sheep never goes hungry because the shepherd leads it to green pastures. When David proclaimed that the Lord was his Shepherd and he would not want, he was affirming that God provides for him in every way; he will lack nothing good. Even when he goes astray, the Good Shepherd brings him back because He is the one who makes all things possible. With God as our Shepherd, we are under His protection and care, lacking nothing essential.

God is our Shepherd and Divine Provider; He is our supernatural Supplier. For the children of God, the supernatural flows consistently in their lives. We must never view God as stingy or unyielding in providing the good things we need. As long as He is our Shepherd, every provision we seek is available. Finding ourselves in want or need clearly indicates that the Lord is not our Shepherd—it’s as straightforward as that. Emptiness, loneliness, despair, and frustration signal that we are not under His care. True satisfaction cannot be found if anyone or anything else is leading us. If work becomes our shepherd, we will always experience restlessness and agitation. If education takes that role, disappointment will be a constant companion. When another person shepherds us, we set ourselves up for disappointment, frustration, anger, regret, and ultimately emptiness. Moreover, if drug abuse is our guide, our lives will be wasted. We are to embrace the truth: God is our Shepherd and Divine Provider. Allow Him to lead, for in His guidance, we will find all the provisions we need and a life filled with fulfillment! Psalm 84:11 says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

Beloved, God has made every provision available in Christ; all you have to do is access it. The Lord has prepared a table for you in the presence of your enemies. He has anointed your head with oil so that you can enjoy abundance. Even when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you do not need to fear any evil. Trust in God for the miracle you desire—whether it’s provision, victory, healing, or something else entirely. Your faith will lead the way to incredible outcomes. He will not fail you because He is God and not man. A good shepherd does not abandon His own; the Lord will not abandon you. Though the righteous may face numerous afflictions, rest assured that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, will undoubtedly deliver you from every single one. God has provided everything; He is a Great Provider! However, these benefits are only for the sheep. Today is the day for you to surrender your life to the Good Shepherd; if you are yet to do so, it is high time you give your life to Christ so He can become your Shepherd. To remain connected to the One who daily loads you with benefits, abide in His Presence, and give Him the worship He deserves. When you continually do this, He will show Himself as the Mighty Provider in your life. Put your trust in the Shepherd and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and He will help you in the Name of Jesus. Remember, if you do not want to suffer lack, live a holy life and be obedient to God’s Word in its entirety.

O Lord, You are the Shepherd of my life. Let me not lack any good thing that I need to fulfill my destiny in Jesus’ Name.
