2 Chronicles 25:8-9(NIV)
Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.” Amaziah asked the man of God, “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” The man of God replied, “The LORD can give you much more than that.”
Amaziah, son of Joash, began to reign at 25 years. At first, he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not with all his heart. From the above Scripture, King Amaziah was not to ally with the king of Israel to fight together against the Edomites because God was not with Israel due to their continued idol worship. God told him that if he used the army of Israel to help him, they would experience defeat, for He has the power to help a few and cast down many. However, if they relied on God alone, He would give them victory, for God decides the outcome of wars and not the help of the arm of flesh. When the king asked the man of God what should be done to the hundred talents given to the hired soldiers, the man of God answered the king; God can give you more than this. The man of God assured king Amaziah that the Lord is able to do much more than this, for He holds the purse strings, and what we lose for His sake, He can repay a thousand-fold. It was for him to obey God’s will, and he can rest assured that God will provide for him. David said in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
We serve a God who can help and fight the battles of His children. The help of God is so superior, reliable, and dependable that He promises to be with us when we go through deep waters and great trouble or go through rivers of difficulty! Even when we walk through the fire of oppression, the fire will not burn us, nor will the flames consume us. The life of a Christian is like a running battle with many conflicts. However, the help of God secures the trusting Christians’ victories in all challenges and confrontations. In the darkest moments of life, the assurance of His Loving Presence gives us confidence that we are not alone. He grants us the grace to endure and the wisdom to know He is working. He is a dependable Refuge for His people when everything around them seems to be falling apart. He is our Strong Tower against the enemy, a Defense for His people. He is the only One that can get us out of tight places when we are boxed into a corner and threatened on every side. Whenever the enemy comes against us like a flood, the Spirit of God is readily available to lift a standard against him. Without God, we are hopeless and helpless, for He is our present help in trouble. He is the only One who can give us more.
Beloved, fear not, nor be afraid of those constantly fighting you both, spiritually and physically, because God is with you, and He will never fail or forsake you. Always ask for His Help in prayer. Depend on Him wholly for His Help in all areas of your life. Know that the Almighty God is the Only Help you have. He is a very present help in times of need(Psalm 46:1). If the Almighty God cannot help you in your adversity, no “mighty man” or demon can help you, so look up to Him for your help. When the Lord sees that you TRUST Him to be your only source of help, He will arise and help you. I pray that the Almighty God will help you in the day of trouble, and you shall not be ashamed in Jesus’ Name. There is no storm that God won’t carry you through. No bridge that God won’t help you cross. No battle that He won’t help you win. No heartache that God won’t help you let go of. God is so much bigger than anything you will face today. Leave everything in His Hands and embrace this day confidently, knowing that He will help you. When you surrender all to Him and seek His face, He will be a Helper to you and raise helpers for you. Don’t be tempted to use people and ways God has not blessed. Be careful to follow and obey the LORD with all your heart; when He gives you success, do not turn to powerless and vain things of this world but stay dedicated to Him. Remember, the Lord is able to do much more than you can ever think or imagine, for He makes the meek to inherit the earth and does not withhold any good thing from them that walk uprightly.
O LORD, thank You for Your Word. Give me the grace to look to You daily for help in Jesus’ Name.
