The Lord Is My Rock

Psalm 18:2-3(KJV)

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

The experience of David concerning Divine Protection is worthy of study. From the above Scripture, David acknowledged God as his Rock, Fortress, and Deliverer when the Lord delivered him from all his enemies, including from the hands of Saul. It was a Psalm David expressed a deep love for God, for he was a man after God’s own heart. Undoubtedly, David sought shelter from the blazing sun under the shade of the rock. David found the Lord a reliable fortress, providing secure shelter and protection, much like a rock offers protection from a storm and a firm foothold. David referred to God as his Deliverer because the Lord is the foundation of our strength and the source of our stability. It is a fact that we live in an increasingly wicked and dangerous world. But the good news is that no matter how threatening the world and people get, God will deliver His people in these trialing times because we serve a God eternally committed to preserving His children. Psalm 62:1-2 says, “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.” Our God is indeed Jehovah-Nissi!

As the Rock on which we stand, the Lord is the solid foundation of our faith and the fundamental anchor that completes all we are in Christ. In the midst of life’s storms, the Lord stands as our unwavering refuge and defense against the adversary who prowls like a fierce lion, seeking to consume anyone in their path. The tears will still come, the pressures will come, and so will the temptations, but during all circumstances, God’s Grace, Peace, and Joy are there for us. Whatever we see in our physical appearance or hear from or about our opponent must not be allowed to make us doubt the power of the Almighty God or shake our faith in Him. Like David, when confronted by the enemy, situations, or challenges that seem bigger than us, we should quickly realize and confess that we have the One who has never lost a battle. He is the Lord of hosts and our Strength in times of trouble. He is our Shield from principalities and powers in heavenly places. He is our protection from those that seek to harm us. Our Provider in times of need, and our Joy in times of sadness. Therefore, as believers, we must purposefully declare, “On Christ the solid Rock I stand.” And God will make us to be more than conquerors. Psalm 125:1 says, “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.”

Beloved, it does not matter what you have faced or are facing now; you will end well. Instead of focusing on circumstances, make God your focus, stand firm and be secure in Him! Today, trust in the Lord, for your protection is guaranteed. Make it a habit to praise the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Make demands always on the preservation power of God at the Throne Room of Grace. Meditate on Him and His Word, and fellowship with Him until the revelation of who He is in you starts to thrill your soul. Remain in Him, and He will help you in your fight against principalities, powers, and spiritual forces of wickedness. He will not allow you to be defeated in battle because He will defend, protect, deliver you, and subdue your enemies. You are safe in His Hands, for God never fails! He will always be your God, Rock, Fortress, Deliverer, Strength, Shield, Salvation, and High Tower if you allow and trust Him. He will save you from all your enemies. You will live to see the end of all your enemies, including household enemies who have plotted to hand you over to external enemies in Jesus’ Name. Remember, God is your defense, dwell in His Presence and He will be your Shield and Buckler.

O Lord, thank You for being my Rock, Fortress, Deliverer, Strength, Shield, Salvation, and High Tower. I ask for Your preservation power on my life in Jesus’ Name.
