Psalm 139:1 (KJV)
O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
David in this Psalm acknowledged that God knew everything about him: his down-sitting and uprising, all his ways, and even his thoughts, including the word on his tongue. David has decisively turned his attention inward, choosing to explore the depths of his own being rather than merely observing the world around him. He invites God to break through his outer defenses and delve deeply into his inner self. By unveiling his core, where unspoken thoughts and hidden motives reside, David confidently welcomes God’s scrutiny, eager for the transformative light that illuminates his true essence. God is the only One whose knowledge covers the past, present, and future happenings. He is the only One whose knowledge covers both actual and possible experience or circumstances. He knows everything about things that are, and He knows all things that could have been. Our all-knowing God has an intimate understanding of us. He knows everything, down to the very thought of our hearts. It is comforting to know God loves us perfectly, is fully aware of what we will face today, and knows how best to help us in every circumstance of life. Knowing that God is ever-present motivates us to think, speak, and behave in ways that glorify Him.
In today’s world, it’s astonishing how many individuals believe they can commit heinous acts without facing repercussions. Some live as if there is no divine oversight, while others, despite knowing of God’s existence, deliberately reject His authority. This is evident among those who carry out serious offenses like murder, arson, terrorism, sexual assault, kidnapping, and even ritualistic killings, all while assuming they can elude justice by going underground. They fail to recognize that transgressions against humanity are also sins against God, and they cannot hide from His omnipresence. The belief that one can escape accountability is a dangerous illusion that will ultimately be proven false. Know that all other sins, no matter how small, will also not go unnoticed by God. Be it idol worship, immorality, covetousness, lying, theft, disobedience, malice, backbiting, drunkenness, treachery, and many others, whenever and wherever committed, they are all open to the eternal God. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” God knows us thoroughly as we do our everyday tasks at different locations and situations, regardless of our condition. God is interested in every detail of our lives and knows what we need even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8). He will not abandon or forget us, nor is He too busy to neglect us. Even in trouble or difficult circumstances, we are not hidden from His Presence. It’s a reminder to stand firm against temptations and pursue holiness.
Beloved, you don’t know how God will use the circumstances of your life, but you can rest in the knowledge that God knows everything about you and is directing your footsteps. Though His Sovereign Hand may seem hidden, He’s never absent. Avoid following the crowd to commit evil! Stand out as a light in the world! Just as a fish cannot survive on dry land, you cannot excel on this planet until you discover who you are in Christ. Don’t envy anyone, nor compromise. Instead, seek God with all your heart. Worship the most High God for His exclusive attribute of being all-knowing and for being able to bring His counsel to pass in your life, irrespective of all that the enemies may plan. Come to the winning side today and surrender your life to our great God. Remember, God is everywhere, so He sees everything; you can’t run away from His Presence.
O Lord, thank You for knowing me inside and out. Scrutinize my thoughts and motives, and show me where I need attention and what pains You in my life in Jesus’ Name.
