The Power To Choose

Deuteronomy 30:19(KJV)

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Clearly, this is a passage of great importance. In our anchored Scripture, Moses encouraged the Israelites to make the right choice instead of the wrong one, as both options had outcomes. Moses challenged the people to accept the life and blessings that the Lord offers. It was a choice that they needed to make, either God’s Way or the way of death. They would be fruitful, prosperous, and secure if they chose to obey God’s commandments, love the Lord, and walk in His ways. However, curses would be upon them if they chose to forsake Him and worship the gods of the heathen. When God created man in His image, He created us with free will that enables us to make choices in life. God has given us the freedom to choose, and His Wisdom is available to help us make choices that will produce a lifetime we can be proud of and enjoy. Therefore, it is our choice that settles our destiny. For every choice we make, there is a reward or a consequence. Jeremiah 21:8 says, “And unto this people, thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.” The time has come to obey God’s commandments and choose life, for there are blessings in making the right choice.

On our journey through life, we face many choices about which road to travel. Some are easy, and some are difficult. But as long as we are alive, we will be confronted with making choices. It can be our career, the business to run, the partner to marry, a call to fulfill, the location to dwell in, or the God to serve. Many pathways seem promising and attractive, but only one is the pathway of life. For every choice made, there is always an alternative forgone. That is why it is significant to make the right choice in life. When we choose the way the Lord has offered us, we find a satisfying and eternal life. Unfortunately, some Christians have not forgotten about the other possibilities. They want to have their cake and eat it at the same time. They want to be in Christ and the world and will soon discover that what they have chosen is not sweet but bitter and deadly. Job 34:4 says, “Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.” As children of God, we make choices and decisions carefully, knowing that God will bring everything to judgment. Although we can choose whether or not to worship God, our actions will ultimately be accountable to God.

Beloved, the Key to Life is to choose well. No matter how wonderful the land is before you, it’ll come to ruin if you don’t make the right choices. If you choose correctly, you’ll keep yourself under the umbrella of God’s Protection and live in the fruitfulness of His Provision. Choose poorly, and you’ll be captive again for generations to come. Don’t make choices that lead to sin, sickness, failure, demonic attack, or death. Exercise your will to make decisions that bring peace, prosperity, divine health, joy in the Holy Ghost, fulfillment of destiny, and eternal life with Jesus. Today, take responsibility for your life by making choices that make you live. This choice determines the kind of life you will live on earth and where you will spend eternity. Exercising self-control can assist you in making wise decisions and avoiding impulsive choices. Choose life by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Commit your way to Jesus, and He’ll deliver you from whatever may be holding you captive. Ask God to show you the right choices as He leads you to His ultimate life in Heaven with Him from His Word. The more time you spend in His Word, the more you understand what it means to live the life of abundance He promised. Choose carefully and wisely. Choose God’s will. Choose life! Remember, you can’t carelessly throw this nuclear power of choice around because the consequences are too significant.

O Lord, thank You for Your Word, give the wisdom to always choose correctly for Your Glory in Jesus’ Name.
