The Profession Of Our Faith

Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

It is vital to know that the Christian life is a profession of faith. To be successful in any career in life, we need to understand how it works, and this is no different to the Christian race. So, to be successful in the Christian journey is to understand faith as a subject. As believers in Christ, we need to have a firm grip or lose out! In other words, we are supposed to hold fast to—our profession, our declaration of faith. The plea to hold onto the hope is the faithfulness of God promising salvation and the return of His Son, Jesus Christ. God will not fail to accomplish His promises, including our eternal life in Christ. It is God’s promise that gives us our sure hope. He is faithful and true and always keeps his Word as a perfect Father. To hope in Him is the most logical and advantageous action we can take. Jude 1:3 says, “Beloved when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” We contend for the faith once delivered to us with a fight because it takes a fighting spirit to maintain our faith.

The God we serve is still faithful, just, and righteous. God’s Word is unquestionable. It is always right, holy, and trustworthy; His Word is more than enough. His covenant of faithfulness is the sure foundation on which all our faith securely rests. He is a good God who deserves our trust, and He keeps His promises. So, as children of God, we can depend on His trustworthiness and commitment even when others are unfaithful. Though God may seem silent or even out of sight, He is never absent(Heb. 13:5). He is always working out things for our good. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” With all that is happening around us, we are to hold fast to the confession of our faith without wavering, for God is faithful. When we go through difficulties, hardships, or trials, look to the God of possibilities because He who promised is also faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability. The race of life can feel like more than we can handle at times, and we may be tempted to drop the rope in hopelessness. As we run together, let’s encourage one another to run strong! No matter what trial we find ourselves in, our hope lies above in Jesus Christ. We can always look forward to His faithfulness, for nothing is too hard for Him! We who trust in Christ will all experience ultimate deliverance from God because we have the lasting victory over the devil.

Beloved, the Lord is faithful and greater than satan and all his evil agents. He promises not to abandon you, nor will He forsake you. God will strengthen and protect you from every attack from the enemy. I don’t know what the circumstances in your life are right now or how fast you feel you’re falling, but I can tell you God is faithful, and He won’t fail you. He is faithful to be with you, to watch over you, and faithful to work in you to make you who you are. He changes not, and this should give you the confidence as a believer that He will perform what He has promised. Be determined and stand firm. You’ve got to persevere and hold fast and not allow the enemy to pull the seed of faith out of your heart. Develop the habit of confessing your faith as soon as any negative thoughts, words, behaviors, and attitudes appear to increase your hope and your joy. Keep speaking words of hope. Keep declaring God’s Word and keep holding fast to the profession of your faith! Choose today to hold onto God’s promises without wavering. Hold on to the covenants in the Bible like your life depends on it. Hold onto what God says, and know that God will always come through for you on His promises. He will never let you down or leave you. Be confident that you will see the goodness of God in your life, for He alone can establish you. Remember to continue in the faith grounded and settled, not moving away from the hope of the Gospel you have heard.

O Lord, help me to hold tightly to my profession of faith without swerving, give me the grace to live by faith in Jesus’ Name.
