The Significance Of Obedience

Ruth 3:5-6 (KJV)

And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do. And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

Our anchored Scripture highlights Ruth’s remarkable obedience and trust. Despite the uncertainties, she faithfully followed Naomi’s guidance. Ruth, a Moabite woman, exemplifies loyalty, faith, and obedience in her relationship with her mother-in-law, Naomi. Her obedience to Naomi is a key theme that emphasizes her character and God’s providential plan. Ruth’s obedience is powerfully demonstrated through her unwavering commitment to Naomi. Upon their arrival in Bethlehem, Ruth’s devotion grows stronger as she takes decisive action. When Naomi instructs her to glean in the fields to provide for them, Ruth complies promptly, showcasing her humility and exceptional work ethic. Her dedication and respectful nature catch the attention of Boaz, a relative of Naomi’s late husband, who offers her kindness and protection. Recognizing Boaz as a potential kinsman-redeemer, Naomi devises a strategic plan for Ruth to approach him. She instructs Ruth to wash, anoint herself, and go to the threshing floor where Boaz is winnowing barley. Ruth follows Naomi’s guidance with precision, displaying profound trust and obedience. This unwavering faithfulness ultimately leads to her marriage to Boaz, securing a promising future for both women. Their union produces Obed, the grandfather of King David, solidifying Ruth’s vital place in the lineage of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 1:5). Ruth’s story is a powerful testament to the blessings flowing from obedience and faithfulness. Her steadfast commitment to Naomi and her willingness to follow divine guidance reveal a heart aligned with God’s purposes, showcasing the significant impact of obedience in the unfolding of His plans.

The relevance of instruction and obeying instructions to life and destiny fulfillment cannot be exaggerated. Instruction is key to destiny fulfillment; it shows one the pathway to destiny. In life, receiving instruction is unavoidable, and we are strongly encouraged in God’s Word to seek good counsel. To be successful in anything, we need wise counsel. No door can close against anyone who listens to advice and obeys instructions. In this life, it is not the knowledge of instruction that produces results but obedience to it. The truth is, to hear instructions is to be wise. Our inability to be instructed leaves us vulnerable and unprotected. Instruction prevents destruction and eliminates failure in life and destiny. Sometimes, individuals experience failure not due to a lack of knowledge but because they fail to follow straightforward instructions. Many are afflicted or have died for failing to obey a direction. King Saul lost the throne when he worked his desires into the instruction given to him by Prophet Samuel. Had King Saul feared God, he would not have compromised the instructions given to him by Prophet Samuel. So, the fear of the Lord will keep us from compromising any instructions for the pursuit of personal gain. Hebrews 12:25 says, “See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:”

Beloved, settle down to be instructed to fulfill your destiny, for being open to instructions is about growth and maturity, leading to a more insightful and wise journey through life. It is the instruction that averts destruction. Your continuity and stability are connected to your obedience to instructions. Anyone too big to be instructed and directed is too little to fulfill destiny. Humble yourself to be instructed because pride and arrogance will make you miss your way, wasting time and energy. Even when the path ahead seems unclear, trust that God has a plan for you. Pray for discernment and be willing to follow His lead, even if it requires stepping out of your comfort zone. Change can be daunting, but it often leads to growth. Be open to new opportunities and trust that God is guiding you through each transition, but refusing instructions will take you to the wrong destination. Today, God is ready to speak to you if you obey His instructions because He does not waste His dictates. So, ask God for specific instructions regarding your expectations for supernatural supplies. Remember, until your ear can hear what God is saying, your hand cannot handle what He is giving.

O Lord, help me to trust in Your guidance, walk in obedience, and face uncertainties with courage in Jesus’ Name.
