1 Kings 18:41-45(KJV)
And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So, Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
After Prophet Elijah had confidently declared to King Ahab that there would be no dew nor rain in the land of Israel, except by his word, he confidently gave Ahab the assurance to go and start celebrating for the coming of the rainfall. A severe drought had plagued Israel for 3 ½ years. God had told Elijah that the dry spell was about to end, and to confirm God’s Word, he heard the sound of an abundance of rain. Elijah did not just fold his arms but went into serious prayer sessions to actualize God’s Word on top of Mount Carmel. He decided to put his faith into action through fervent prayers. Elijah was determined to make sure God fulfilled His Promise. Even though his servant told him “there is nothing” six times, he did not allow discouragement to set in. He knew what God told him, and he held onto it steadfastly. Prophet Elijah persevered in the place of prayer. He sent his servant to go again the seventh time, and as he continued to watch and pray, there was finally a massive rain.
The Word or Promise of God requires our faith to bring it to pass in our lives. In other words, when we believe prophetic verdicts, they become binding on God to perform. 2 Peter 1:4 says, “In this way, he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature.” The Word of God is the sure key to getting us everything we need in the Kingdom. God’s Word will never fail, but our unbelief and lack of prayer prevent its fulfillment in our lives; if God says He will give something, hold Him by that promise until He fulfills it. One of the reasons believers suffer needless hardship, problems, and pain is that they do not hold on to God’s Word. When God gives His Word or Promise concerning anything, the devil will come with his lies. He could orchestrate a trial or problem to make us fear and take our eyes away from what God told us; however, give him no chance. We need the vision to be able to see and to hang on to God’s promises because it may not always be encouraging. Yet God has promised His blessings, even though it looks like nothing is happening. On the other side of nothing is the promise of God, the blessings of God. Rain will surely come.
Beloved, God is the First and the Last, He knows the end from the beginning, and He has the power to do all things. It is not in His Character to abandon a project. He has promised that He will not leave or forsake you, so you can be sure that He is not done with you yet. It doesn’t matter the situation or circumstance. Neither does it matter how bad it seems; God can bring you out. It is your season! Your day of salvation and restoration is coming! Lay hold on to His Promises! No matter what may be happening in any area of your life, believe and act on God’s Word concerning it. Never let God’s promises concerning your life pass you; hold them in prayers and declarations because they must surely come to pass even if it tarries, your joy will be complete, the devil notwithstanding. In due season, God will accomplish His Promises, then will you acknowledge that the Lord has exceeded your massy expectations and made you more than a conqueror. The day is coming when God’s promises of life and abundance will unfold. There shall be showers of blessings. He has promised He will never fail, so keep believing, keep trusting, keep the faith, and God will do what He promised to do for you. Do not doubt His Promises concerning your life, even though it may tarry, be patient for it because it will surely come to pass in your life. Refuse to allow failure to stop you, for most failures are learning experiences. Don’t lose hope; keep your focus on the Author and the Finisher of our faith, for He will surely do it. May God give you the strength to wait for His promises in Jesus’ Name. Remember, Habakkuk 2:3 says, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Get ready for the rain, it’s about to fall.
O Lord, thank You for Your glorious promises to me, bring into manifestation every prophecy and divine promise for my life in Jesus’ Name.
