1 Kings 18:41 (KJV)
And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
After confidently declaring to King Ahab that there would be no dew or rain in the land of Israel except by his word, Prophet Elijah assured Ahab to go ahead and celebrate the forthcoming rainfall. For 3 ½ long years, a severe drought had gripped Israel. However, God had revealed to Elijah that this dry spell was coming to an end, for he had already heard the sound of an abundance of rain. Elijah took decisive action, engaging in intense prayer on Mount Carmel to bring God’s Word to fruition. After demonstrating the supreme power of the one true God by defeating the prophets of Baal, he turned directly to prayer for rain. This decision highlighted Elijah’s profound connection with God and his firm belief that true power resided in God’s hands. In a display of unwavering faith, Elijah was resolute in his prayers, fully committed to ensuring God fulfilled His promise. Even when his servant reported, “there is nothing,” six times, Elijah remained undeterred. He held fast to God’s promise with steadfast determination. His perseverance in prayer was unwavering; he sent his servant back to check again, and after the seventh time, as he continued to watch and pray, a tremendous downpour finally arrived.
In life, we may encounter seasons of drought, moments when our expectations seem unmet, prayers feel unanswered, and hope appears futile. However, it is in these times that God often speaks the loudest, inviting us to hear the sound of abundance not yet in sight. The Word or Promise of God requires our faith to manifest in our lives. When we believe in prophetic verdicts, they become binding on God to perform. 2 Peter 1:4 declares, “In this way, he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature.” The Word of God is the essential key to receiving everything we need in the Kingdom. God’s Word will never fail, yet our unbelief and lack of prayer hinder its fulfillment in our lives. If God promises something, hold onto that promise until it comes to fruition. One reason believers endure unnecessary hardships and pain is that they do not cling to God’s Word. When He gives His Promise concerning anything, the devil may come with lies, orchestrating trials to instill fear and divert our attention from what God has said; however, do not give him the chance. We need the vision to see and hold tightly to God’s promises, even when the circumstances are discouraging. God has assured us of His blessings, even when it seems like nothing is happening. On the other side of nothing lies the promise of God and His blessings. Rain will surely come.
Beloved, God is the First and the Last. He knows the end from the beginning, and His power is boundless. It is not in His nature to abandon any project. He has made a promise to you that He will never leave or forsake you, so rest assured, He is not finished with you yet. No situation or circumstance can hinder His plan; regardless of how dire things may seem, God will bring you through. This is your season, for your day of salvation and restoration has arrived! Seize His promises with confidence. No matter what challenges arise in any area of your life, trust and act on God’s Word. Hold onto His promises through prayer and declarations, for they will undoubtedly come to pass. Even if it seems to take time, your joy will be complete—the enemy has no hold over you. Let adversity be a stepping stone, not a stumbling block. Plug into prayer and stay charged with faith. Show your belief in His faithfulness by consistently walking in faith, following God’s commands, and stepping out in obedience to His guidance. In due season, God will fulfill His promises, and you will witness that He has exceeded your greatest expectations, making you more than a conqueror. Prepare for showers of blessings! God has guaranteed He will never fail you, so keep believing, keep trusting, and keep the faith. He will do exactly what He has promised. Do not waver in trusting His promises, even if they seem delayed; be patient, for they will come to fruition in your life. Refuse to let failure define you, for most failures are simply learning experiences. Stay hopeful and keep your focus on the Author and Finisher of our faith. He will deliver. Remember, trust in God’s perfect timing and provision, even when evidence is not yet visible, for victory is assured!
