Ephesians 6:17(KJV)
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit that raises a standard against all satanic uprising. This makes the Word a weapon of war in our hands. Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The Word of God penetrates deeper into a man than any sword, it enters into the soul and spirit, into all our sensations and passions, to our very thoughts and sits as judge of the most secret intentions.
When we launch the defensive weapon of the Word in faith against the offensive forces of hell, we become more-than-conquerors. The keys to defeat the devil are in the Word of God. For instance, we saw how Jesus Christ, after a 40-day fast, engaged the sword of the Spirit against satan and He conquered (Matthew 4:1-14). When God’s Word is put to work, the powers of darkness are shattered. This is why we need to develop the required skill in engaging the Word of God. It is so important for us to know how to engage the Word of God in battle against every satanic uprising of the wicked targeted at our lives and destinies. Since believers engage in perpetual spiritual warfare with the devil, we must arm ourselves with the Word of God to always overcome him. Our protection against the attack of our spiritual enemy is the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s Word. Whatever the problem or battle you are facing, make use of the sword that can strike out anything and anyone.
Beloved, everything we need for fulfilled lives on earth and eternity in Heaven is in God’s Word. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you in the appropriate application of the Word to be able to say “it is written” more forcefully than satan. Study the Word day and night so that you can be very confident and bold in times of need, because the Word becomes so effective when you apply it. Memorizing Scripture and meditating on it enable us to take our stand against the devil’s schemes. God’s Word is our Divine Defense! Today, put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
O Lord, help me to live by Your Word daily in Jesus’ Name.
