The Voice Of Thanksgiving

Psalms 26:7 (KJV)

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

The above Scripture encourages us to actively express our gratitude and to share the wonderful things God has done. Throughout the Psalm, David emphasizes his commitment to living a life of integrity. He contrasts his own behavior with that of deceitful and wicked people, highlighting his dedication to God’s ways. David proclaims his desire to thank God and share the wondrous works He has done. Thanksgiving is a powerful practice that can transform our outlook on life. It is a proven, practical, and perpetual spiritual platform for an encounter with fearful blessings. It connects us to God in the place of prayer and is a proven weapon of warfare. When thanksgiving becomes our lifestyle, God’s goodness becomes our natural experiences; we don’t struggle for them. Once we come to the knowledge and truth of who our God is and what He has done on our behalf, taking away the penalty of sin and death from us through His Son Jesus, we have no choice but to thank Him. Psalm 105:1-2 says, “O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.”

It’s easy to focus on the challenges and struggles in our daily lives, but as God’s children, thanksgiving shift our perspective. Despite our trials, we can thank God’s unfailing goodness for God’s Holy Name, deliverance from sin, victory over death, and God’s nearness. Thanking God helps us to remember the marvelous and extraordinary things He has done in our lives, as well as His judgments and decisions. We are who we are in Christ because of the goodness of God. God has been so good to us. He healed, provided, delivered, restored, destroyed our enemies, and gave us victory. He has never ceased to be faithful, merciful, and kind to us, His children. If it had not been for Him on our side, the devil would have destroyed us. So, no matter how challenging our situations might be, we should remember God’s faithfulness and thank Him for His blessings. Those who come before God with thanksgiving can never live by the mercy of men. Psalm 103:1-2 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” When we genuinely forget not the goodness of God in our lives, irrespective of the things we have not yet attained, we will not cease to appreciate God at all times. We will not have any reason to complain or murmur. The habit of never forgetting what God had done in our past encourages us to draw closer to Him, tell others about what He has done for us, show His glory to others, and offer our best service.

Beloved, let your heart overflow with thanksgiving, and make it a habit to recognize and proclaim His wondrous works. When you take the time to give thanks and acknowledge God’s blessings in your life, it fills your heart with joy and appreciation. With a heart of thanksgiving to God, count your blessings and name them INDIVIDUALLY. Great things happen when you offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving to God and declare His Works with joy. Regardless of what you are going through, learn to count your blessings. Take some time today to think about the ways in which you have experienced God’s goodness. Whether it’s through the beauty of nature, the kindness of friends, or moments of personal growth, there’s much to be grateful for. Consider sharing them with someone, for not only does this practice strengthen your own faith, but it also spreads hope and encouragement to others. As you remember and recount the goodness of God, you will soon overcome the trials and hardships you are going through, and your tests will turn into a testimony. Remember, sharing the wondrousness of God’s work can inspire and encourage others.

O Lord, thank You for everything. I will always declare all Your Wondrous works in my life in Jesus’ Name.
