The Whole Duty

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14(KJV)

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Evidently, many people do not know what matters in life, so they chase shadows. Many people have ended the journey of life in regret. As mentioned in the Scripture above, the worth and significance of our lives depend on the service we provide to our Maker by obeying His commands. The whole duty of man is to live in fear of God with the consciousness of God’s judgmental and excellent dimensions. We must have reverence for God and follow His commandments because He will judge all of our actions. By doing so, our efforts in life will hold weight and purpose. Any endeavor we put up that will not further our cause of having eternal life in God’s Kingdom is an exercise in futility. Our achievements on earth do not matter if we do not have a personal relationship with God. Ecclesiastes 11:9 says, “……………………… but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.”

Everything we do on this planet shall undoubtedly come to a close one day. After that, there is an accountability to give before God. Romans 14:12 says, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” At the end of life’s journey, only one thing will matter when we meet the LORD God Almighty. And it is whether we feared Him and obeyed His commandments. If we fear God, we will obey His commandments by believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, to the end, for this is how we demonstrate our love to Him. If we do not keep His commandments, we do not love Him. The commandments of God are straightforward and unambiguous: love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind. The primary and most significant commandment is to love God. And the second one is equally crucial, treat your neighbor with the same love and respect as you treat yourself. Obedience comes from fear. Conduct springs from worship. Knowing God leads to following God. Becoming decisive for Christ is to learn to fear and follow Him. For the fear of the LORD is wisdom, and those who are wise hate evil. Although we are vulnerable to sin because we are still in the flesh, we must remember that we are held accountable for every action of ours. God weighs both the pursuit of righteous and selfish desires. So when considering our current day’s desire, evaluate it against the end of life’s fulfillment, and choose wisely, remembering that God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Beloved, to live a fulfilled life on earth and end well in eternity, you have to focus on the things that matter most in life. Everything comes down to whether or not you obeyed God and lived according to His Word! Because on Judgment Day, God will bring every deed into judgment, whether good or evil. For you will appear before the judgment seat of Christ, each one will give account for their life on earth, whether good or bad. If you are reading this message and have not accepted Jesus Christ, I encourage you to accept Him as Your Lord and Personal Savior, for it is appointed to man to die once after that judgment. Be determined to pursue what matters most in life, remembering those who live for God live for good, while those who live for the devil live for evil. It is instructive today that you abide in sobriety and discover God’s purpose for your life. Today, remove every stumbling block, love the Lord, and keep His commandment (John 14:15). The decision is yours alone! Use your all to advance the cause of God’s kingdom on earth, and you will receive commendation and reward when the Master returns. Live ready and think about the eternal consequences of every action before embarking on them.

O Lord, help me to focus on the things that matter most in life. Remove every distraction from my life and cause me to walk in Your Will in Jesus’ Name.
