Philippians 4:8(KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
From our anchor Scripture, Paul admonishes us to think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report that possess virtue and praise. These will motivate us and spur the spirit of revival within us. The intents and contents of the human life starts with a thought in the heart. If the heart is pure, it will be reflected in the actions of a man. God wants our heart to be yielded to Him and not to the world or the pleasures in it. A pure thought will always produce holy living. We must be careful about what we think because our thoughts determine our takes in life. The more we think about good things, the better our lives will seem. The more we think about Jesus Christ and the principles He taught, the more we become like Jesus and the stronger we grow in the Lord. In other words, when a negative thought comes to our minds, reject them and replace them with POSITIVE ones. Luke 6:45 says “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Our thoughts can keep us perpetually in the road of success or keep us in failure. It’s this reason we’re to keep renewing our minds with the Word of God.
The truth is, no one can stop us from thinking. Proverbs 23:7 says “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” We are products of what we hold unto in our minds. We have the power of thinking, our thoughts become our words, so as we change our thoughts and our conditions will also change. The thoughts of fulfilment of prophecies must occupy our minds because if God said it, then He is too faithful to fail. Whatever we decide to do with the type of thoughts that flow through our minds is determined by how much of the Holy Ghost we are filled with and what frequency we decide to tune to. Following the counsel of God as given by Apostle Paul will suffice to dispel evil thoughts. Therefore, we need the Holy Ghost to help us determine which pieces of information are coming from God and those that are coming from our flesh and from the devil. The devil is after our minds because he knows that out of it are the issues of life, he is extremely good at throwing evil suggestions. As Christians, we should not waste ‘the power of the mind’ on thoughts that tear us down or that would tear others down. Remember this saying: “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.” If we concentrate our thoughts on the above, we will surely have good Christian testimonies and God shall be pleased with us. Our attitude is to bless the Lord at all times and fill our hearts, minds and mouths with His praise.
Beloved, what are you thinking about today? Think on anything that is true, honest, just, pure, desirable and excellent. Let your mind be flooded with holy and righteous thoughts, so that it becomes very easy to hear and see what God has in store for you. Until you change your way of thinking, your life and circumstances won’t change. You’ve got to choose the character of your thoughts. Take charge of your thoughts. You have to always remember that little by little, with every impure thing you listen to, read or watch, the devil gains control of your mind. Today, refuse to allow any negative thoughts to take up space in your mind rather fill your heart and mind with the Word of God. With your armor in place, you’ll be able to banish every evil thought or contrary idea that tries to assault your mind. Stop imagining evil. Stop imagining small things. Start imagining big things. As you think on these things, let God rule over the affairs of your life so that there will be communion and unbroken fellowship with His Presence. Remember, your thought patterns as well as the state of your mind have great consequences on your destiny, keep your heart with all diligence.
O Lord, help me to think about the things that honor You and fill my life with a hunger for more of You and Your Word in Jesus’ Name.
