Luke 6:31(ESV)
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
In our anchor Scripture, Jesus gave us the Golden Rule. He did not relent in letting us understand the importance of how we treat our neighbors. He encourages us to treat our neighbors as we want them to treat us because this is what God expects from us. In Matthew 7:14, we read a similar command: “Do to others whatever you would like them to do unto you.” In life, it is crucial to know the things that matter and do them. Identifying the most vital things in life and doing them is key to success and greatness in life. The Golden Rule, as many calls it demonstrates the kind of love that only comes to us from our Father in Heaven when we are walking in spirit and truth. It is a good life principle that prevents a lot of selfishness. It makes us live a life of kindness.
In a confusing world where love has grown cold, and consideration for others has altered into cruel aggression, there is an increasing need for us to apply ‘The Golden Rule’ in our lives. Many are on the road hurting others and doing all manner of evil to others, forgetting that Jesus instructed us to treat others the way we want to be treated. In this life, it takes love to impact people, so let everyone around us feel the impact of our lives. What we cannot do to ourselves, we cannot do to others. Do what we can for others, for the Bible says in Galatians 6:9-10, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” When we know how to love, give, and bless, doors cannot close against us. It is written in Philippians 2:3-4, “Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.” Focusing on others attracts focus from Heaven. When we are concerned about others, God will take care of our desires. Maybe we have been praying and asking God to shift our lives to the next level; why not pray for others, just as Job did for his friends? Rather than being overwhelmed by the issues in our lives, begin to pray for other people and families. When we live with this consciousness, miracles will happen in our lives without us having to ask.
Beloved, learn to treat others the same way you want them to treat you. Give value to others, for it is in your giving that your growth comes, for you cannot love without giving. Make life better for others today by loving and helping them. Be more interested in lifting people to greater heights in life instead of yourself. Seek to walk in spirit and truth and to love as Christ loved you so that whatever you do in word, or deed you do all to the glory of God. The truth is, pure joy comes when the people around you are also happy. Endeavor to correct, strengthen, and encourage each other in love along the way, making sure not to destroy anyone who falls into an error as a result of one weakness or the other. Start planting one good seed after another, and eventually, you’ll enjoy a good harvest. Remember that whatever you’ve been casting out there is always what you find down the road. Kindness isn’t so much what you do for yourself but what you do for others. Have a determination to show someone kindness which only God can repay. As you start this new day, the love of God shall overshadow your life. Today, receive the GRACE to make a mark on somebody’s life in Jesus’ Name!
O Lord, let the love of Christ manifest in my life as I love my neighbor as myself in Jesus’ Name.
