Tremble At God’s Word

Isaiah 66:2 (KJV)

For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Our anchored Scripture prompts us of God’s sovereignty as the Creator of all things. Everything that exists is made by His hand. Yet, despite His immense power, God looks favorably upon those who are humble, contrite in spirit, and tremble at His Word. This shows God values a humble, repentant, and reverent heart toward Him. A contrite heart is characterized by a profound humility that emerges from clearly recognizing guilt, effectively diminishing any sense of pride and self-sufficiency. It does not entertain excuses or deflect blame but instead fully aligns with God’s perspective on the seriousness of sin. Such a heart fully embraces God’s mercy, aware that it rightfully deserves only His righteous judgment. This genuine contrition is a hallmark of those filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to authentically acknowledge their shortcomings. David is a prime example of this principle; he was called a “man after God’s own heart” precisely because of his swift willingness to repent and seek forgiveness for his sins. In Psalm 51:10, David said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

True worship is not about outward rituals but about the condition of our hearts. God desires a relationship with us that is rooted in humility and reverence. We acknowledge our need for His grace and guidance when we approach Him with a contrite spirit. This kind of worship pleases God and draws us closer to Him. We serve a God who is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present, perfect, and just. It’s essential that we embrace His perfection to fully access His blessings. The reality is that God demonstrates His strength on behalf of those who have hearts wholly devoted to Him. Our hearts towards God determine our part with God, and our attitude towards God determines His action towards us. In this life, immoral practices, false religion, corruption, cultism, witchcraft, and other anti-Christ activities, which the Word of God is highly against, are dominant in our society. Sinners are now comfortable in the House of God for one reason: many people don’t tremble at God’s Word anymore. However, as believers know this, God is watching how we react to His Word to release His Blessings to us. To tremble at God’s Word is to hold it in deep reverence and respect. It’s about acknowledging the authority and holiness of God’s Word and responding to it with obedience and humility. That change of heart starts with repentance.

Beloved, cultivate a humble and contrite heart before God. God resists the proud but lifts the humble. It is the Will of God for the world to experience His massive move, only be humble. God fights for the humble. God wants you to have a humble spirit willing to change, reverence, and love His Word, which reveals the essence of truth. Study the Word of God daily and do what it says. Cultivate a heart that is sensitive to God’s voice and open to His correction. Seek God’s cleansing power in your life, trusting Him to remove anything that hinders your relationship with Him. Transform and renew your heart and spirit, and embrace the changes God brings. Have a deep desire for transformation, a heart that yearns for purity, and a steadfast spirit. Reflect on His sovereignty and approach His word with reverence, allowing it to transform your life. As you march to 2025, have a humble heart, be contrite in spirit, and tremble at His Word and your life will never remain the same. Remember, let your heart align with God’s purposes, characterized by steadfastness and a commitment to holiness.

O Lord, help me to have a heart for You and always tremble at Your Word in Jesus’ Name.
