Very Present Help

Psalm 46:1(KJV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

From the above Scripture, the Psalmist proclaims God is our sanctuary, strength, and a well-proven help in trouble. In other words, God is our safe place to hide in need. When we are overwhelmed, or in the grip of crisis, He stands ready to help. In our Christian walk, we will rest well in God’s Loving Arms and Perfect Will if He is our Refuge and Strength. The Lord is our tower of strength, firm fortress, and secure stronghold to Whom we can run for protection and safety. As children of God, we must come to terms with the truth that the Almighty God is the Help that is very much present in the time of need. Psalm 50:15 says, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Our God is more than able to help us in all situations. If He does not help us, nobody else can.

As believers, we are called to strengthen our faith in the unwavering commitments of God, just as the saints before us did. In his affliction, King David said, “My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2), revealing his confidence’s source. God also promises His children never to leave or forsake them. The Bible says that even in the face of evil threats, we should not become fearful but remain confident, knowing that God will never fail us. Because of this sure promise of God, which can never fail, we shall confidently say that the Lord is our Helper, a confident and dependable help in times of trouble. God is not a man who should lie; His Promises are sure and tested! He will fulfill all His promises concerning our lives this season and beyond in Jesus’ Name. If God be for us, who can be against us? Who is he that will harm us if we are followers of that which is good? Our confidence rests absolutely upon the promises of God. God will always be there for His children as a reliable Father and Friend against all evil attacks. We are called to fear not, for Christ has won the final victory. Psalm 118:7, “The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.” As we acknowledge His Presence in our lives, I see all of us also enjoying His help in Jesus’ Name.

Beloved, God is your very present Help in times of need. If the Almighty God cannot help you in your adversity, no “mighty man” or the devil can help you, so look up to God for your help. Look absolutely to God as your Source and not on your wisdom, personal abilities, or connections. Refrain from looking to man for help; that help will always fail or come with complicated conditions. Do not worry; surrender your troubles to Him and watch Him move into action. Depend on God wholly for His Help in all areas of your life. God wants to show Himself strong on your behalf, and He is always the Very Present Help to get you out of whatever situation or trouble you find yourself. As you TRUST Him to be your only source of help, He will arise and help you. Surrender to Him today and let the peace that He gives take over. And He will help you like king Asa and renew your strength (like Elijah) to run and not to be weary. Make an effort to seek the help of God, and you will surely find His Help in your situation. Remember, the Lord of Hosts is still with you; the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is still our refuge.

O Lord, I look to You alone for help. Send Your Help in times of need in Jesus’ Name.
