Psalm 130:5(KJV)
I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
The Psalm is a call for help, a cry for forgiveness, and it is all about waiting for the Lord in hope. As believers, we may sometimes question the timing of God’s assistance, and like the Psalmist, we may cry out to Him for help from the depths of our hearts. However, we must resist the temptation to take matters into our own hands. Unlike the world, we must not rely on human reasoning or the examples of others to guide us in our decisions. Our direction should come solely from God, and we should seek His guidance through His Word. God’s Word cannot fail; we can place our hope in the promises. As we wait, we are not just waiting for help but for the Lord Himself, and our hope is in God’s Word. Waiting on God is an attitude of the heart. It is associated with patience, submission, dependence on God, and contentment with His timing in delivering a pending and much-needed divine intervention. Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” What a beautiful picture of the longing that God has for us. He waits for every opportunity to renew our strength and show us His compassion.
Waiting is necessary when anticipating God’s judgment or hoping for His blessings. Waiting with steadfast endurance is a great expression of faith. It means enduring patiently in the confident hope that God will decisively act for the salvation of his people. There is a plague of impatience afflicting our world today. The difficulty with waiting has made many impatient and sometimes unfriendly when we don’t have what they want. While waiting, many jiggle their thumbs, shuffle their feet, suffocate their yawns, jack up long sighs, and fret inwardly in frustration. However, waiting is one of life’s best teachers, for we learn the virtue of patience and develop endurance. In waiting, we can trust God for His love and goodness, even when things are not going our way. Job 14:14 says, “…….all the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change comes.” Champions and winners accomplish impossible things because they never give up or buckle under pressure despite criticism and intense opposition. They refuse to throw in the towel until there is a change. In times of difficulty, we can also look to the Almighty God for the stability and strength only He brings. We wait in hope, knowing that God will deliver us in due time because God works in us and for us when we wait.
Beloved, wait patiently upon the Lord in every area of your life, and He will never disappoint you. He will strengthen you! Resist discouragement, depression, and despair, enduring the battle until your change comes. Do not consider taking revenge or repaying evil with evil. Instead, wait for the Lord’s Help and timing in all situations. WAIT, no matter what you are going through right now, for the night will end. Rely solely on the Word of God for hope instead of your emotions or current situation. Stand firm in the promises that God has bestowed upon you through Scripture. Proclaim your faith in Christ’s promises with boldness and communicate with God through prayer using His own words. When you put your hope in the Lord and His Word, you can eagerly await His arrival with unwavering confidence. Be confident that God is there for you and will be there for you, so let your hope be in God’s Word. Do not be discouraged in waiting for your time is coming. Today, rest in God and wait patiently for Him. Although He will act according to His will, it will be in your favor and benefit. As you look up to Jesus, He will show Himself as the ever-present help, and you will sing a new song of victory. When your path is winding with curves and sketchy twists, and your race is slow, remember the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong, but the Lord shows mercy. Rest assured that no matter how challenging your situation may seem, God’s unfailing love can deliver you from the deepest depths. With steadfast faith in the Lord, hope will always be within reach.
O Lord, give me the grace to wait patiently for You in all things in Jesus’ Name.
