Psalm 27:14(KJV)
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Our anchored Scripture reminds us of the significance of maintaining an attitude of waiting on God. David wrote Psalm 27 when he was going through a tough time. Things weren’t going his way. But he said, in effect, we are to wait on the Lord, for He will strengthen our hearts. Not only does He call us to wait on God, but while we wait, we are to be of good courage while waiting. In other words, be patient with confidence and expectation. Waiting on God is an attitude of the heart. It is associated with patience, submission, dependence on God, and contentment with His timing in delivering a pending and much-needed divine intervention. Regardless of the circumstances, details, or difficulties, we face in this life. God is our guaranteed assurance of defense, protection, guidance, and provision. Those who wait are fully aware that God is everything, and we are nothing without Him. Waiting for God means turning to Him in prayers, trusting in His Word and Promises, living a godly life, and looking up to Him until He sends the blessings. Therefore, for our waiting to be fruitful, it must be accompanied by holiness, faith, courage, hope, patience, and service unto the Lord. It is written, in Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” What a beautiful picture of the longing that God has for us. He is always waiting for every opportunity to renew our strength and show us His compassion.
Waiting is necessary when anticipating God’s judgment or hoping for His blessings. Waiting with steadfast endurance is a great expression of faith. It means enduring patiently in the confident hope that God will decisively act for the salvation of his people. The world we currently live in is filled with the plague of impatience. The difficulty we have with waiting has made many very impatient and sometimes unfriendly when we are not allowed to have what they want right now. While waiting, many jiggle their thumbs, shuffle their feet, suffocate their yawns, jack up long sighs, and fret inwardly in frustration. However, waiting is one of life’s best teachers, for we learn the virtue of patience and develop endurance. In waiting, we have the ability to trust God for His love and goodness, even when things are not going our way. Job 14:14 says, “…….all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change comes.” Champions and winners accomplish impossible things because they never give up or buckle under pressure despite criticism and intense opposition. They refuse to throw in the towel until there is a change. In times of difficulty, we can also look to the Almighty God for the stability and strength only He brings. We wait in hope, knowing that God will deliver us in due time because God works in us and for us when we wait.
Beloved, wait patiently upon the Lord in every area of your life, and He will never disappoint you. He will strengthen you! Resist discouragement, depression, despair and endure the battle until your change comes. Do not consider taking revenge or repaying evil with evil. Instead, wait for the Lord’s Help and timing in all situations. WAIT, no matter what you are going through right now, the night will end. Every problem has an expiry date, and the night will not last forever. Your dark days will not last forever because there is light at the end of the tunnel. In the midst of the storm, in the midst of it all, wait for Him; He can never be late. Never stop asking while waiting, for your brighter day will dawn on you in the course of time. As you continue to wait on the Lord, He will strengthen your heart and be good to you. He will renew your strength and empower you to overcome life’s obstacles. Do not be discouraged in waiting for your time is coming. Today, rest in God and wait patiently for Him. Although He will act according to His will, it will be in your favor and benefit. As you look up to Jesus, He will show Himself as the ever-present Help, and you will sing a new song of victory. When your path is winding with curves, sketchy twists, and your race is slow, remember the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong, but the Lord shows mercy.
O Lord, thank You for Your Word today, strengthen me in time of waiting on You in Jesus’ Name.
