Walk In Love

Ephesians 5:2(KJV)

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

It is clear that God expects His children to walk in love just as He has loved us. We act like God when we walk in love. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus Christ is the expression of the Love of the Father for us. God gave us the greatest gift to show us His love, for He is committed to loving us. When we receive Christ, we receive His love; we behave like Him when we walk in love. This kind of love is agape love. The essence of agape is a sacrificial, unselfish, unconditional love demonstrated through action. Being Godlike, we can emulate our Heavenly Father because we were born with His life and nature. God’s character in us makes it possible to express love to those in our world, whether or not they deserve it. He wants us to walk in love so we can be light for others, but first, we must get this love from the very source of it, which is Jesus Christ. He was the sacrificial lamb that enabled us to become holy and chosen in the eyes of God.

From our anchored Scripture, Paul said that Jesus gave himself up for us as an offering and sacrifice. In other words, giving ourselves up also means offering our lives to God in sacrifice. Sacrificing our lives to God or living in a committed relationship with Him means following, obeying, submitting, serving, and submitting. Jesus taught the same principle in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” By laying down His life for us, Christ showed us an example of living a life of sacrifice so that we may follow in His steps. His death on the cross became the ultimate expression of the heart of the King, who lived up to His own words when He laid down His life for us. Jesus commands His disciples to love each other. Therefore, to love is not an option. It’s the first and the greatest commandment. He has loved us, so we are to love one another. As beneficiaries of this great love, we show love to our Maker and neighbors. We cannot express our love for anyone in a glorious way other than being willing to die for them. By laying down our lives, we sacrifice everything for another’s sake. When we lay down our lives, we live to please God instead of ourselves.

Beloved, since God loves you sacrificially and unconditionally, you are to love others likewise. Walk in love by imitating God’s love for you. Live with a commitment to abide in love, for when you walk in love, you dwell in God and God in you. Walking in love guarantees a life of greatness, dominion, excellence, health, and ceaseless victories. So, embrace the love of God today by turning away from what displeases God in your life. God is love, so love as He Loves! Walk in His LOVE. Your love for others must not be a matter of words or talk; it must be genuine and show itself in action, for God gave Jesus Christ by demonstrating the fullness of His love to you. When you genuinely love, making sacrifices becomes a pleasure, not a burden. No price is too much to pay for the one you love. So, move beyond hurting others and be willing to give yourself away as you lay down your life for others. Today, surrender your life to Christ, and you will partake of God’s immeasurable love. Show someone love today by telling them the love of God and leading them to Jesus Christ. Remember, walking in love is a consistent and purposeful act.

O Lord, thank You for Your Love. Help me to walk in love and love others as You love me in Jesus’ Name.
