Matthew 14:31(KJV)
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
The presence of doubt in the Christian walk can be detrimental as it allows human reason to overshadow one’s faith in God. Doubt is considered a sin, as anything done outside of faith is sinful. Doubt is an opposing force to God’s will. It indicates a lack of conviction and internal debate. It is a sign of no faith and double-mindedness. It’s important to note that miracles happen only to those who believe, and doubt can be very costly, destroying one’s earthly destiny. James 1:6-7 says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.” The evil entity known as the devil has a specific skill set in planting skepticism in the hearts of people, which results in diminished faith in God. The devil intends to restrict people from receiving any benefits from God. To counter this, we must constantly remind ourselves of the positive outcomes God has provided us and others in the past.
Doubt has been the root cause of failure for all believers. It has resulted in several unanswered prayers and unmet commitments among the faithful. Many have questioned the omniscience and omnipotence of God, the deity who possesses infinite potential. Doubt hinders us from acquiring any positive outcomes from God and deprives us of witnessing His miraculous deeds. For instance, the government official in 2 Kings 7:2 doubted the word of God declared by Elisha. Although His eyes saw the fulfillment of God’s Word, he did not live to partake of it. Similarly, the Israelites who doubted God in Numbers 13:26-33 also denied themselves the pleasure of entering the Promised Land, as they all perished in the wilderness. That is what doubt does in the life of a person. When Zechariah doubted Angel Gabriel, he became silent and could not speak until the day the prophecy was fulfilled (Luke 1:18-20). He doubted God’s ability to overcome natural obstacles or limitations. No matter how logical our reasoning may seem, God has made the wisdom of this world foolish.
Beloved, an accurate measure of faith, is the first step of the faith journey and the subsequent steps. So, come to God without doubting to see the manifestations of His goodness. Have faith and be constant, stable, and settled, not easily carried away by every wind of doctrine, temptation, or lust. Never be a victim of doubt, for your doubt will not diminish God in any way; it will only rob you of His purpose and provision for your life. Today, come to the throne room of God with faith. Kick the habit of hesitation and make a solid decision to trust in and act on the Word of God. All things are possible to the believer, so go out there constantly and believe. Don’t fall into the trap of saying you believe in God when your heart is filled with doubts and questions. Stop advertising your doubts; a single day of doubt can bring 365 or more days of heartache. Resolve never to entertain doubts again. Encourage yourself constantly with the Word of God to rekindle your faith. Learn to trust God because it shows your love for Him! Without the mental ability to conceive of a potential outcome, it is impossible to actualize it. By the mercy of the Most High God, the Lord will override your doubts and make the impossible possible in your life in Jesus’ Name. Your season of laughter starts now. Remember, mental perception is a prerequisite for practical experience.
O LORD, destroy every root of doubt in my life. I receive the grace to solidify my faith in Your Word in Jesus’ Name.
