John 16:33(KJV)
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
In this age of anxiety, where humanity is threatened with wars, natural disaster, incurable diseases and uncertainty, many are looking for one type of escape or the other. According to Jesus Christ, we’re living in a troubled world, world devoid of peace, world full of violence, wickedness and evil. Many today try to avoid the reality and in search of peace, protection and rest take to alcohol, drug, smoking, illicit sexual activities and all kinds of inhuman practices that separate a man from his Maker. All of the above would only multiply your sorrows because seeking after them is moving away from God. They can’t give you satisfaction, they would rather separate you from the One who satisfies – Jesus Christ.
Peace is knowing that God is in total and complete control of all things and at all times. Bible makes it clear that no matter what we may be facing, God has a plan for us and His plan for us is to be victorious, even when our problems feel overwhelming. God will not allow you to be swallowed by the enemy. Our Lord Jesus Christ has overcome the world for us which makes us more than conquerors of this world. Based on human experience, life is generally believed to be hard, laborious, burdensome, and full of sorrow but Jesus gives peace to those who put their trust in Him. I don’t know the kind of burden you have been carrying about, but today, as you continue to read God’s Word, it will show you what to do in order to live stress-free. You may be struggling with fear, a bad habit, relationship issues, or even a life-threatening disease. However, the Bible says in Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Whatever it is, when you give your battle to the Lord, you are in a position to win. Nothing in this world can have everlasting power over you because Jesus Christ promised complete victory for you and your family over life’s issues and problems.
Beloved, be assured that no matter what awaits you, Jesus has overcome for you.1 Corinthians 15:57 says “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our LORD Jesus Christ.” Cheer up child of God, for in Christ you have victory! Child of God, you have already overcome even before the battle began. Jesus has already overcome the world and its systems so that you can truly have victory in every area of your life. Peace and rest in this world belong to those who have surrendered their lives to God through His Son. Only in Christ alone, your hope of peace and all-round rest is found. The choice is yours. Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” God, Jehovah Shalom, is the Peace that passes all understanding to give you victory! You will finish well in Jesus’ Name. You’re in Jesus, and that makes all the difference. You are an overcomer!
O LORD, give me victory over every trial, temptation and trouble in Jesus’ Name.
