Galatians 4:7(NLT)
Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.
By this Scripture and others in the New Testament, believers are no longer slaves but children of God by grace. When God looks at you, He doesn’t see a servant but He sees a son or daughter. When Jesus Christ exchanged His life for our life, something miraculous happened in the Heavens. He opened up the way for you to be born into His amazing family. You are now the free child of God and not a servant. John 1:12 says “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
Without a doubt, the responsibilities associated with being a child of God in this present age of spiritual corruption are highly demanding. Nevertheless, God has made it easier for us to be children rather than servants. Being called children of God is a privilege that changed our status from darkness to light. We are fellow citizens with the saints and household of God. You are an heir of God, and co-heirs with Jesus Christ, the Almighty Creator of all things. When the prodigal son came home to his father’s house he no longer felt worthy to be a son because of all the feelings of shame that he struggled with. When he met his father, he said “I am no longer worthy to be a son, so let me serve.” Because of his feelings of inadequacy and shame, he felt that the only way he could justify his place in his father’s house was through serving. Many people do the same thing today. And like the father in the prodigal son story, God does not see His children as servants, but as sons and daughters. God has adopted and clothed you with Jesus Christ.
When you truly understand what your inheritance means then your status and experience changes and you behave as a son or daughter. 1 John 3:1-3 says “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
Beloved, being a child of God grants you access to the food of salvation, deliverance, healing and prosperity that is meant only for children of God. If you are not yet a child of God, don’t delay further; today is the day of salvation and adoption. Give your life to Christ today by saying this prayer “Lord Jesus, come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and Personal Savior. I believe in my heart You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You Lord for saving me, in Jesus Name.” My prayer today is that you will know that God has not given you a spirit to fear, but He has given you the Spirit of Sonship.
O LORD, give me more revelation on what it means to be an heir to You and a joint heir with my elder brother, Jesus Christ in Jesus’ Name!
