Ephesians 5:8(KJV)
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Apostle Paul admonishes Christians to steer clear of darkness for we are now children of light. He says that though we were once darkness, (that is in the realm of sin, living under the dominion and influence of the devil, we are now light in the Lord. Jesus while speaking to his disciples in Matthew 5:14 said “ye are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill that cannot be hid” As disciples of Christ, we are the light of the world, ordained to be leaders, front runners and groundbreakers in life. We are the ones to show the world how to live, what to do, and how to do it irrespective of the darkness in the world. Being children of the Light, we are the hope and solution that the world needs.
God designed and desires that His children be lights of the world and shining stars for His Kingdom. Just as He created light out of darkness, He has changed us from being darkness itself into light in Him and to the world. Therefore, all those merely professing Christianity and relationship with Christ but daily live without corresponding evidence of a transformed nature, risk eternal damnation in hell. Some Christians have become so much like the world in their attitude and behavior that there is no significant difference between them in dressing, talking, choice of career, marriage, and so on. It is written in 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” As children in Christ, we have nothing in common with darkness. In this world where righteousness is so lacking, and where it does exist it has become so twisted and perverse that celebrating, and or fiercely defending sin is now a measure of the world’s righteousness. They are paving the way for the anti-Christ’s arrival by trying to normalize and validate sin. Many Christians do not even know where they belong, they claim to be in the middle. Forgetting that Jesus said in John 12:36 “While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. ………………” Those who have received Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, into their lives have been delivered from this power of darkness. For it is written in John 1:4-5 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” We have been handed the keys to a kingdom far greater than that which was given to Adam(Colossians 1:13).
Beloved, let the light in you shine bright for the world to see. Learn to carry Jesus with you everywhere you go without introducing yourself. There should be an aura around you that will make people around you perceive that you are a child of light. Without you opening your mouth, your actions should preach, the excellence with which you carry out your assignment should point people to Jesus. Make the decision against compromise, conformity and ungodly existence. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; because our loyalty is to Christ Himself, not to friends or family. Embrace Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. by renouncing all hidden works of darkness in your life. Repent and believe in God, His Son the Lord Jesus Christ and God will not only forgive and cleanse you of all your sins and transgressions but transform your mind. Today, meditate on the fact that Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, is in you and there is no going back to darkness. Remember to always carry the light to the rest of the world who are still in the dark.
O Lord, I receive the grace to walk as a child in the light, help me to carry the light to the rest of the world in Jesus’ Name.
