Your Will Be Done

Luke 11:2(NKJV)

So, He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in Heaven.

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an outline for prayer in what is popularly called The Lord’s Prayer. No wonder in this prayer, He mentioned The Kingdom of God because it was the central Message of all He came to do and teach. Jesus Christ came so that we can once again unite with God in doing His Will and pursuing His Pleasure. When we pray, “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven,” we are praying for the rule and reign of the Kingdom of God in our lives. “Thy Kingdom come” here helps us understand that praying Kingdom advancement prayer is God’s commandment and will for us. From the Lord’s prayer, one thing is clear; only the Will of God is done in Heaven where He dwells and on earth where we dwell. That is, everyone and everything existing in Heaven and on earth conforms to God’s Will and Plan. 1 John 5:14 says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” So, our prayer should reflect the desire to align ourselves with God’s goals and purposes, not to get Him to follow our plans. God through His Son saved us so that we can join His family in Heaven in doing His Will on earth. David had this understanding, and so he said in Psalm 143:10, “Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.”

God created us to walk in His Blueprint for our lives. So, we have to reject anything less than God’s Will for us with all force. Living within the Divine Will means having an understanding of God’s plan for us in every area of our lives. The Will of God is always important and higher than any other will, including the will of man. Some Christians forget God is the One blessing them with so much, and they are letting His very blessing be a barrier to following His Will right now. It is so funny that the same people want God to continue to bless them with children, wealth, green cards, good marriage, the best of health, good jobs, and so on. If we are the lover of ourselves, it will be difficult for us to please God and do His Will. No matter where we are in life, Jesus has called all of His followers to take up our cross and follow Him. God’s Will can look different in our individual lives, but the call to embrace it is the same for each of us. As believers, we should put God and His Will first in our lives. Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Beloved, God’s Will for your life is supreme and it is His Will to serve Him alone. He rules and reigns both in Heaven and on earth. As long as you continue in His Word, no devil can take away from you His Will on earth. Your will is at its best when you are in submission and agreement with God’s Will. Live according to God’s Will, and there’ll be no strivings. Today, open your heart to the will of God, which is His Word. Stand firm in the faith and see His Will in your life just as it is in Heaven! Be prayerful and study the Word of God(Bible) daily. Continue to serve Him faithfully and ask Him for the needed grace to run the race. Remember, at the end of time, only those who followed God’s Will diligently on earth will make it to continue doing so in Heaven.

O Lord, teach and grant me the grace to do Your Will, enforce Your Will in my life in Jesus’ Name.
