All To The Glory Of God

1 Corinthians 10:31(KJV)

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Our lives are completely transformed when we embrace Jesus as our Lord and Personal Savior. While we enjoy freedom, we also bear the responsibility of carrying out Jesus’s mission on His behalf. We are His representatives on earth, which impacts every aspect of our lives — from the content we share on social media to how we react to a rude driver in traffic. Drawing from the teachings of Apostle Paul, we are reminded to do everything for the glory of God and the edification of others. He emphasizes that even our daily activities, such as eating and drinking, can be opportunities to honor God. Our actions should be driven by a love for God and a desire to bring Him glory. When we live in the reverential fear of God, everything we do is to please and honor God. We do not do things that do not glorify God. We live our lives honoring the Lord all the way. Whatever we do, if done for the glory of God, is a spiritual pursuit because we live our lives as living sacrifices(Romans 12:1). Therefore, everything we do should be for the glory of God.

Assessing our lives to ensure we are on track with God is crucial. That is because the state of our lives determines our audience with God. And our lives point to Jesus. The truth is that doing things to glorify ourselves instead of honoring God will destroy our lives. The Lord does not want us to take His grace as a license for careless living. We are not at liberty to conduct ourselves in whichever way we like. However, many are driven by consensus, doing things because everyone is doing them. That does not glorify God because, with God, actions are weighed (1 Samuel 2:3). God is more concerned about the motive behind our actions than the action itself. People may see perfection in what someone does, but God may see pride, self-glory, and other negative inducements behind their efforts. As children of God, we must ensure that our lifestyle and actions do not offend the Gospel of Christ. So, we must ask ourselves daily if what we have on display now leads people to Jesus or turns them away. Our decision to do anything should not depend on peer pressure or what our society and popular culture dictate but on our desire to please God, glorifying and worshipping Him. We are to do what we do based on our commitment to honor the Lord, not because others do or approve of it. 1 Peter 4:11 says, “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Beloved, let the motive behind your action be pure, always giving God all the glory. Do your best to have the correct and God-glorifying rationale behind every move you make. Always ensure your work is done all for the glory and honor of God and not out of selfishness. Avoiding offense by being unfaithful to the truth does not glorify God. Keep your conscience at the forefront by not doing things you know are wrong. Do nothing out of a selfish desire for advancement. When you do all to the Glory of God, you are not wasteful with the material possessions the Lord has given you. It allows you to learn how to make things with little or no value into something useful and of value. Eat that meal to the glory of God, and thank Him for His provision! Work your job for the glory of God, and bless His Name for giving you employment! Wherever you go today, whatever you do, and whoever you meet, try to be an encouraging witness for God. Whatever you accomplish or fulfill, credit God for allowing you the skills, gifts, and time to achieve your goals. In everything, give glory to God. In all that you are, glorify Him today. That is what Paul means by doing all things to the glory of God. Remember, let each choice be an opportunity to bring honor and glory to God, and let Christ be exalted.

O Lord, forgive me for my selfishness. Help me do everything to honor You and Your Glory in Jesus’ Name.
