God’s Standard Of Living

Psalm 15:1-2 (KJV)

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

In our anchored Scripture, the Psalmist listed the requirements for constant fellowship with the Lord. It is confirmed from Scripture that the upright, who is not slanderous, who does not perpetrate evil against others, but who stand against evil people and honor God, who is truthful, trustworthy, and is not fraudulent, have his or her place reserved in Heaven. This Psalm enumerates several ways to demonstrate care and love for God and others. Full participation in the sanctuary mandates obedience to God’s revealed will. In our present time, many are misguided and heading in the wrong direction. However, adhering to Divine wisdom, we must not follow the multitude in the wrong direction and jeopardize our place in Heaven. For God esteems integrity and righteousness above all else. As children of God, we are expected to take on His truthful, honest, and righteous characteristics. Isaiah 33:14-15 says, “The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil.”

Our relationship with God determines the extent to which we reflect these qualities. Since God is the embodiment of truth, we too can confidently strive to emulate His attributes. Living a godly life is one of the non-negotiable qualities for success in life and destiny. Godly character is having our thoughts, words, and actions flow in line with the Word of God. When we take a stand for God, even when we are alone, and live according to His Standards without compromise, He is pleased with us! It is all that God desires from us. The lifestyle of a godly character is a lifter of people. The uprightness of life lifted Abraham, Joseph, Samuel, and Daniel and positioned them in the realm of relevance in their generation. Many desire to be the best but lack godly character and integrity. It is written in Proverbs 11:3, “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” The godly character of uprightness guides life and destiny. It assists you to know the best way to go in life. To attain true happiness, holiness, and safety, as well as the divine blessing of residing on God’s holy hill, we must firmly reject anything associated with sin.

Beloved, God seeks people who keep his law, reflect his character, and pursue holiness. As a Christian, you must decide to stand up for God and speak against the ungodly work of darkness wherever you find yourself. Every time you notice that you said something that is not true or you acted in ways that were not sincere, repent promptly. Insist on the truth at all costs and never sleep over a lie or any other sin because no one knows when Jesus will come. Today, make up your mind to be upright in all your ways to end right up. Whenever you are confronted with situations or challenges in life, and there is a need to make a choice, you must stand for the truth. Stand for God; stand for the principles of His Kingdom. Do not do evil because everyone else is doing it. Always strive to do good, for you reflect God’s character. As a believer, you must strive to confidently mirror Christ’s actions, thoughts, behavior, and appearance. Receive the grace from God to maintain upright character in Jesus’ Name. A life of unwavering commitment is the key to building a reputation for godliness. However, a moment of foolishness can destroy it in an instant. Remember, the profits of uprightness far outweigh any gain of iniquity, so choose to stand for God.

O Lord, help me to focus on the things that matter in life and remove every distraction from my life in Jesus’ Name.
