2 Corinthians 5:9 (KJV)
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
The Scripture calls Christians to a life of intentional devotion, where each action and decision is driven by the desire to honor and please God, always keeping an eternal perspective in mind. It serves as a compass through life’s turbulent seas, guiding believers toward a steadfast commitment to God’s will and purpose, urging us to realign our priorities with the singular aim of pleasing our Creator. The essence of Christian living and service is to glorify the Lord. God, the Owner and Giver of life, has endowed us with purpose—to please and exalt Him. Living to please God embodies a lifestyle of holiness, joy, happiness, satisfaction, sacrificial giving, prayer, praise, and worship. Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Worship is due to God alone; everything that exists, from Heaven to earth and all living beings, was crafted by His command and exists by His will. Therefore, in every area of service, we are called to serve the Lord. By choosing to live in harmony with His commandments, we demonstrate our faith and commitment. The pursuit of pleasing God is central to Christian living, shaping our actions, decisions, and attitudes in life and in preparation for judgment. Our focus should center on Heaven’s testimony about us, rather than the opinions of others. When pleasing the Lord becomes our primary motive in Christian service, we remain deeply concerned with how He perceives our efforts. By living in accordance with God’s revealed will, we bring Him pleasure, and in response, He confirms His acceptance and approval.
In a world full of distractions and competing priorities, we must redirect our focus to what truly matters. The realization strikes that true fulfillment comes not from worldly acclaim but from living a life that pleases God. Life is a profound adventure, and what we choose to do today shapes where we’ll find ourselves tomorrow. Ephesians 6:6 says, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.” Our life’s assignment centers on pleasing our Maker and finding peace in our actions. Prioritizing society or others at the expense of pleasing God reduces our purpose on earth. Many become entangled in the pursuit of human approval, revealing a lack of understanding about true fulfillment. Some may seek to please God only when it is easy or convenient. Unfortunately, many cause God distress by prioritizing human approval over divine obedience. When God disapproves, the consequences can be disastrous. The world may applaud us, but God’s disapproval carries a heavy weight. Though pleasing God may not be easy and often demands surrender, resilience in temptation, and faith during trials, the joy it brings is immeasurable.
Beloved, let your greatest desire be to live in a way that pleases God. Your goal is daily faithfulness, guided by His grace. Make a firm decision not to displease God in order to please others. Remember, never respect anyone enough to compromise your devotion to Him. Seek His approval above all else; let your motives be pure, your actions loving, and your heart surrendered to Him. Your true home is with God, not in earthly comfort or status. Center your life on Him and stand firm against evil, even if it means standing alone. Uphold righteousness, even if it puts you at odds with family or friends. Strive to give God pleasure with your life; your choices either bring Him joy or cause Him embarrassment. If you seek the approval of others, you may never stand in faith for anything meaningful. Today, commit to walking in obedience to His will. Seek His guidance through prayer, stay connected through regular Bible study, and engage with fellow believers. When pleasing God becomes your priority, you reflect His love and grace to those around you. You may not receive recognition for your faithfulness, but trust that God sees your heart. Let your words, actions, relationships, and thoughts show a life surrendered to Him. Remember, you cannot be a ‘man-pleaser’ and please God at the same time.
O Lord, thank You for Your Word. Help me to make pleasing You the desire of my heart and let my greatest ambition be to hear Your approval in Jesus’ Name.
