Prompt Obedience

Genesis 22:3(KJV)

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

In our walk with God, total obedience is the key to success. The Bible shares a story of Abraham’s unwavering obedience to God. When the Lord instructed him to take his beloved son Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, Abraham did not hesitate. He did not question the command but rose early, prepared for the journey, and set out to the designated place. His immediate response exemplifies his deep reverence for God and unwavering faith. Despite the heart-wrenching nature of the command, Abraham trusted God implicitly and believed that He would fulfill His promises. Through his obedience, Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness. Even when Abraham didn’t understand, Abraham believed, obeyed, and continued faithfully to trust in the Living God. Without hesitating, he complied. He was indeed a man of instant obedience!

Obedience is compliance with an order, request, law, or submission to another’s authority. Instant obedience is when a task is performed as instructed instantly, with genuine intention. In the spiritual sense, obedience is total submission to God’s written and spoken Word. In our walk with God, complete obedience is the key to success. Prompt obedience is a distinguishing characteristic of those who are outstanding in the things of God. As we ponder this passage, we can draw parallels to our lives. God sometimes leads us through difficult paths, tests our faith, and calls us to surrender our most cherished possessions. Let us emulate Abraham’s trust and obedience in those moments, knowing that God’s eternal purposes extend beyond our limited perspective. As children of God, when we hear His Voice or read His Word, we must not pretend it is not God speaking. Some people, when it comes to giving away something precious or making a great sacrifice, start to assume that the devil is speaking to them, and they begin to rebuke satan, who is not even present. When some receive instruction from God, they may say they need to pray or think about it. Others may say, “Lord, I have heard You, but let me first discuss it with my husband or wife.” However, God is searching for those who can say “Yes, Lord,” He will use them for signs and wonders. Therefore, let us confidently respond to God’s call, knowing He is always with us, guiding us on the right path. The Bible in Genesis 6:22 says, “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” Noah was an obedient instrument in the Hands of the Most High God, and God cherished him. The enduring character in a truly saved person is continual and total obedience to the commandments of God. Claiming the Blood of Jesus redeems us, but still choosing what is convenient in His Word to obey or not makes our profession not real.

Beloved, obey every instruction you are given by God completely, and you can be confident that all will be well with you. As you are privileged to have the whole counsel of God, you should be more committed to obeying every word to inherit the Promise of God. To get a miracle, God has His part to play, so do your part by obeying Him. No matter how insignificant God’s instructions may seem, obeying them will make your spiritual house stand. The only way to get to the top is by total obedience to every instruction of the Lord. As long as you remain obedient to God’s instructions, your journey to the top cannot stop. No force in hell can resist your advancement if you fulfill all God’s demands. Obey God promptly; you will go very far with Him; it can sustain His relationship with you even for generations after you depart from the earth. Remember, only complete obedience to Divine instructions is rewarded.

O Lord, give me grace for prompt obedience as You help me to obey Your Voice to access Your direction for my life in Jesus’ Name.
