Sing To The Lord

Psalm 30:4(KJV)

Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

From our anchored Scripture, David encourages us to sing to the Lord and give Him thanks. Singing to God is not limited to church service alone, but every day is a new opportunity to sing to our gracious God. It helps us to focus on the ability of God and opens the door of possibilities to us. Our songs of worship and praise to God excites and motivates Him, it gives God pleasure. Psalm 95:1-2 says “O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” Singing to God is one of the things that gives us access to God’s Presence. It also invites His Presence and redirects our hearts and words to focus on Him. Singing praise is a weapon that can turn the dreadful things in our lives into wonderful and delightful things. Singing to the Lord launches us into a life of endless miracles and makes us all-around winners in the battles of life. It is a weapon of privilege that God has put in our hands to make living glorious for us and with which we humiliate the devil and his agents.

God’s children should worship and sing praises to Him because He owns us by creation and redemption. He alone is worthy of worship and praise. There are numerous blessings accompanied by singing to the Lord. When we engage in singing praises, our adversaries are silenced and confused. However, it is usually difficult for some people to sing praises and thank God when they go through difficulties or disappointments in life. Many turn to focus on the problem, hardship, trial, or circumstance more than giving thanks to God. It is written in Daniel 6:10 “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.” Daniel prayed and gave thanks when he knew that the law was signed. Regardless of our circumstances, we must appreciate the fact that God loves us. And because He does, He thinks and cares about our situations. Although it may appear He is far away and does not seem to hear our cries, think about how He has shown His love in times past. Think about our salvation and the numerous mercies and grace we have received in the past. There is much for which to be grateful. Psalm 96:8 says, “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name.” God is always worthy of our thanksgiving, not just when we feel like giving it. We should do it for the sake of His Name. So, let us give Him the praise He is due because His love is steadfast and unchanging.

Beloved, as a faithful steward, always sing to the Lord and give Him thanks. As you sing to the Lord, you will find yourself counting your blessings rather than your defeats, trials, and problems. Learning to sing praises and giving thanks to God is a good thing to cultivate. You may not have the voice to sing but anything that carries joy, even if it is noise, is praise. So, make a joyful noise to God, sing to Him, sing praises to Him and, your life will never be the same. Be thankful, knowing that God loves you and is working it out for your good. Find time and reasons to sing and give thanks to the Lord no matter what is happening in your life. As you remember and recount the goodness of God, you will soon overcome the trials and hardships you are going through. For those that are called according to His good purpose, the anger of God will turn into His favor. Your moment of chastening will be changed into a lifetime of grace. And your tests will turn to a testimony. Today, remember God’s miracles, signs, and wonders and serve Him. Praise Him for He is worthy to be praised.

O Lord, thank You for putting a new song in my mouth. You alone deserve glory, honor, and praise in Jesus’ Name.
