Psalm 59:16-17 (KJV)
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy.
The Scriptures clearly affirm that our ultimate purpose is to ceaselessly praise God. We are called to worship even amid trials and troubles. David exemplified this by choosing to praise instead of panic and to worship instead of worry. In his moment of great turmoil, with King Saul’s soldiers closing in, David expressed unwavering trust in God’s protection and committed to daily praise, particularly in the morning, as a powerful declaration of faith. His eyes remained fixed on God, and his heart overflowed with songs celebrating God’s strength and love. Worship became for him an acknowledgment of God’s might and mercy. Despite the surrounding challenges, David refused to fixate on them; instead, he focused on God, reminding himself of the divine power, love, and refuge available to him. With God as his Shield, he found safety from any evil that threatened him, choosing praise over worry in the face of danger. He chooses to sing in the morning, the moment when fear and fatigue often feel strongest, as worship becomes a declaration that trouble does not get the final word.
In a world filled with uncertainty, singing praises to God and trusting in Him—our unchanging and dependable refuge—brings security and peace. Praising the Lord through song is a powerful way to thwart the evil works of the devil and transform our lives. Starting the day with praise sets a tone of faith and reliance for the challenges ahead. Praise is not merely a response to miracles; it is what brings them to fruition. When we praise God, even amid challenges, we demonstrate the depth of our faith and trust. Habakkuk 3:17-19 says, “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.” Let our hearts be filled with praise daily, regardless of our circumstances, especially in times of great trials and hardships. Praise God in the storms, throughout the battles, and when life becomes complicated. When words elude us, we can turn to Scriptures about praising God and use them to lift our spirits.
Beloved, fill your heart with songs of praise and thanksgiving for God, for genuine praise transcends singing, dancing, or raising hands in church; it is a total surrender to God and an openness to His presence. Turn your eyes to Him and let His love and strength embrace you. Start each day with praise, recognizing God’s strength and mercy. Reflect His character in your daily life, allowing His love and protection to shape your actions and decisions. When faced with relentless opposition, danger, and distress, lift your voice in praise instead of despair, declaring God’s strength and love as your foundation. Decide to boldly thank God for His goodness. Show your commitment to His guidance and care by seeking Him in all circumstances, prioritizing your relationship with Him above all else. In situations where there seems to be no way out, praise the Lord until He manifests in your case. The storms of life will come, but refuse to let them disturb your peace or cloud your thoughts and emotions. Praise God always; appreciation transforms your life and elevates your spirit. Rejoice in His power and love as you await His direction amid your needs. Miracles or no miracles, you exemplify God’s mercies and loving-kindness. Come to Him daily, humbling yourself at His feet, and give Him praise. Remember to praise Him boldly, even in opposition, for His strength is perfect and infinite, and His love is everlasting.
O Lord, thank You for being my strength when I feel weak and my fortress when life feels unstable. Teach me to sing of Your love in the morning in Jesus’ Name.
