The Help of God

2 Chronicles 14:11(KJV)
And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
This Scripture is a prayer we must pray regularly when we need the Help of God and are surrounded by the enemies of this wicked world. Asa’s prayer was short, but it was a real language of faith and expectation from God. He succeeded because he understood the meaning of handing over the reins to God, at his most vulnerable moment. He understood his help comes from God who neither sleeps nor slumbers. Psalm 121:1-2 says “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” To seek help from above is to seek help from the God of Heaven. We serve a God who has the capacity to help or hinder, assist or resist. He has the capacity to raise or ruin depending on what people deserve.
The Help of God is superior, durable, dependable and more reliable than either the help of man or the hurt of the devil. Without the Help of God, man is hopeless and helpless, He is our present help in trouble. A man may promise to help today but change his mind tomorrow. More often than not, the promised help of man fails and causes those who rely on it great heartbreak and shame. Earthly help is short-lived but God’s is peaceful and long-lasting. God is the only One whose help is guaranteed, His Help is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will not fail you, because He is God and not man. Joshua 14:12 says “Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.” “The Lord helping me” that’s the kind of mindset that kept Caleb battle ready. He focused on God’s Power, not his own, nor on his advanced age knowing that God would help him do whatever needed to be done. Psalm 46:1 says “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” The Lord is our Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear nor be intimidated. Our God does not depend on numbers to win His battle neither does He depend on our connections to lift us or does He need your finances or your social class to change your story. O Lord our God, send the help Your children need today, for someone reading this devotional is crying unto You for help. Do not let mere men stand against You, for we trust in You, take us up and forsake us not.
Beloved, in order to access the help of God, you need to look absolutely to God as your Source and not on your wisdom or personal abilities. Don’t ever allow yourself to be intimidated by the enemy, God is with you to strengthen you and uphold you with His mighty hand. Today, simply believe God for victory in every battle and watch Heaven disgrace that big mountain in your life. Put your trust in the God of Israel and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will help you, and you will not be put to shame in Jesus’ Name. Look up to God today, hold unto Him and He will make a way for you. The Lord will terminate your shame and turn it into honor. Remember, God can accomplish His Purpose whether with many or with them that have no power. May you receive the same help Asa received to defeat every enemy in your life in Jesus Name.
