The Great Love Of God

Romans 5:8 (KJV)

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Our anchored Scripture beautifully encapsulates God’s immense love for humanity. God offered His Son for us in sacrificial death while we were yet of no use to Him. Our God’s love is incomparable with any other, for His love never fails. No one can describe its wonders to us, for His lovingkindness and compassion are from age to age. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus’ profound love for us was exemplified by His willingness to sacrifice His life for us despite our sinful nature. Through this selfless act, He showcased the extent of His love. Jesus did not die solely for those who were sinless but for all sinners. His ultimate sacrifice on the cross enabled us to be absolved of our sins and paved the way for our reunion with God. His mercy empowers us to extend forgiveness to others as we recognize that we cannot do so on our own and seek His guidance.

The God we serve is a Father full of love, compassion, and mercy for His children. His love for His children immeasurably surpasses the love that an earthly father has for his children. Love is the essence of God. All of His divine attributes flow from this essence. God’s mercy, forgiveness, and kindness reflect His boundless love. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” The promise of God’s love is real, sure, and positive! We cannot understand it until we have experienced the total beauty of God’s love. This magnificent love calls on us to unlock our hearts and embrace the love to the fullest, reciprocating the affection and placing our unwavering trust in it. As we abide in its embrace, we realize that this love is boundless and find solace in its shelter. Our identity and every possession result from our connection to this love, the one who adores us unconditionally. Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:35-39, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our LORD.”
