The New Man

Colossians 3:10(KJV)

And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.

Apostle Paul, in our anchored Scripture, admonishes us to put on the new man. Our minds need to be renewed by knowledge after the image of God, our Creator. As God’s chosen children, we ought to put on daily qualities that reflect the character of Jesus. In other words, we are to put on the new nature according to the understanding of Jesus Christ because Jesus is the transformer of life. Jesus came to dismiss these worldly standards, replacing them with the standards of God’s Kingdom. The evidence of Christ living in us through His Spirit defines our new life. The essence of our newness is that we are Christ-inhabited. Our new life is Christ in us, for He is our inner life; He is our life. As we deepen our knowledge of God in our relationship with Him, we discover new aspects and expressions of this new self. Ephesians 4:24, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” The children of God are to put off the old nature by putting on the new man created in righteousness and true holiness.

Our challenge as newborn men is to constantly recognize and reject all false, underlying assumptions from the old man, the old lifestyle, and the old way of living. It counsels that our minds need to renew so that we can do the will of God as stated in His Word. We are to exchange our carnal thoughts for God’s thoughts letting go of our fleshly ideas and thinking and receiving His glorious ideas. Our thought life must become different, not reasoning as we did before we became Christians, for every transformation depends on our thoughts. In other words, our minds need to be renewed for our lives to see any form of change. We must see ourselves the way God sees us from the pages of the Scriptures before functioning effectively. When we renew our minds, it attracts good and positive things. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” The Word of God tells us that believers are new creations and have become children of God. In other words, being born again is becoming a new person. It is a mystery; old things have passed away, and all things have become new. The way we once were has passed away, and we have all the equipment we need for a brand-new way of life. Submitting ourselves to Christ unites our hearts with His heart, unites our wills with His, unites our minds with His, and brings our thoughts into captivity to Him; we live His life.

Beloved, renew your mind to think as God thinks. Live a righteous life because God wants you to experience the spiritual regeneration that comes with spiritual maturity. You are to take on an entirely new way of life – a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces His character. Guard your relationship with Him jealously and live by His standards rather than of the world. Submit yourself to God, and He will begin the work of transformation in your life. Refuse to be stirred by and attracted to fleshly things. Today, the choice of change and freedom is in your hands. Heed the divine call now. Now that you’re born again, you’re required to think of excellence and greatness and only see pictures of the perfect life God has in store. Focus your mind on the pure, just, honest, lovely, virtuous things and good reports. You can’t afford to continue with the old way of life or thinking. You’re different now. Fill your mind with the undiluted Word of God because when you make the Word your number one focus, the supernatural takes place. Study and meditate on the Word of God to give you a peculiar mindset of love, victory, faith, dominion, health, and strength. Remember, you can’t change your result outside until you have put on the new self.

O Lord, renew and transform my heart and mind by Your Word to live fully for You in Jesus’ Name.
