Walk With God

Genesis 5:24 (KJV)

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

From our anchored Scripture, Enoch stands out among Old Testament characters who walked and pleased God. He is remembered as the man who walked with God, and God took him to Himself without making him taste death. Enoch walked with God for at least 300 years, and his fellowship with God was so intense that death could not touch him. He walked humbly before God in absolute obedience. In Hebrews 11:5, the Bible makes us understand Enoch lived godly and walked in ways that were pleasing to God. Enoch’s faith wasn’t theoretical but practical and transformative, and he aligned his daily choices, thoughts, and actions with God’s will. Enoch’s life teaches us to walk in alignment with God, trust Him, and agree with His purposes. In Jude 1:14-16, the Bible attests that he prophesied about the coming of the Lord and warned his generation against sin and unrighteousness. Hebrews 10:22 says, “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”

Walking with God is essentially serving and worshipping Him, establishing a relationship with Him through prayer, and actively working toward fulfilling His divine purpose on earth. It involves living in accordance with God’s Will, Precepts, and Principles. Walking with God is not an activity reserved for a select few. God desires all of His children to walk with Him. This is a fundamental requirement that God expects from His children. It is written in Micah 6:8, “No, he has told you what he wants, and this is all it is: to be fair, just, merciful, and to walk humbly with your God.” Walking with God requires knowing His Ways, for there is no way we can walk with God if we do not know His Ways. Knowing Him, hearing His voice, sharing our hearts with Him, and seeking to please Him become our all-consuming focus. He becomes everything to us. Walking with God can be highly rewarding if we can pay the price. The truth is those who walk with God can never waste in life because our walk with Him guarantees safety and prosperity. For those who have faith in Christ and follow God’s path, there is a promise of being transported into His Presence and receiving the gift of perfect life with Him. Life becomes toxic without God.

Beloved, walking with God is enriching and rewarding; it doesn’t only end you with God in Heaven, but it also gives you all that pertains to life and godliness. It helps you live a perfect life in this perverse world and makes God establish His covenant with you and your seeds. Make up your mind to be brutally dedicated to God because God wants to have a deeper walk with you, so avail yourself and your whole household to Him in service and worship. Choose the narrow road over the broad way to destruction—endeavor to live according to the principles of God’s Word. Choose to glorify Him in every way you can, regardless of personal cost. Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. God’s ways are to reflect in your thoughts, actions, motivations, and life choices. Today, allow that sinful nature to die on the cross of Jesus Christ. That disobedient heart that yearns for its own way, influenced by the old serpent, must be transformed by renewing your mind through the Word of God. Only then can you have a blessed and prosperous walk with our Maker. God will give you the heart to walk with Him in all your remaining years on earth in Jesus’ Name! Remember, press on to know and walk with Him, and He will respond to you as surely as the coming of rains in early spring.

O Lord, I ask for the grace to walk with You and to order my life according to Your Word in Jesus’ Name.
