Genesis 17:1 (KJV)
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
At 99 years old, Abram receives a profound visit from God, a moment brimming with divine affirmation and renewal, reminding us that God’s resources, not ours, determine the outcome. God introduces Himself as El Shaddai, embodying all power, sufficiency, and authority, capable of breathing life into barrenness, sparking hope in impossibility, and fulfilling long-awaited promises. In this sacred encounter, the Almighty instructs Abraham to walk before Him and be perfect, calling him to a life marked by integrity, faithfulness, and alignment with divine character. God seeks Abram’s unwavering devotion, commitment, and deeper relationship, inviting him into greater responsibility. Abraham remained steadfast in his calling, exemplifying obedience to God. Deuteronomy 18:13 says, “Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.” This timeless call echoes through the ages, guiding us toward diligent faithfulness through self-examination and engagement. It invites us to align with a higher moral and ethical standard, revealing that God’s covenant resonates through our unwavering commitment and faith. By centering our hearts on Him and striving to live according to His will, we can walk blamelessly before God.
In our current age, abundant with distractions and fragmented identities, the call to walk before God and embody perfection becomes a powerful practice of integrity. It invites us to engage in a continual, conscious effort to align our lives with His will. Living a life that reflects His love, mercy, and grace requires a deep commitment to walking blamelessly before God. When we invite Him to work in us and through us, we can truly honor Him and bring glory to His name. Obedience in faith leads to justification, the essence of perfection, for it is total obedience to God’s instructions, even when it seems illogical or defies societal norms. By striving for perfection in our lives, we open ourselves to Divine Blessings, with Heaven offering assistance in our time of need. Nothing is impossible for those who embrace a life of holiness and purity, for Almighty God has consistently proven His faithfulness. While misconceptions about God’s call for perfection abound, we must understand that believing no one is perfect on earth should not lead to careless living, as such living can derail our lives and destinies. Our Lord Jesus Christ reiterates His Father’s call for our perfection, stating in Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” As children of God, let us strive for perfection, aiming to meet Jesus Christ face to face one day. Romans 12:1 says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
Beloved, this perfection is within your reach if you can believe in God and surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. In Him, spiritual growth is limitless, as He is never-ending.
