The Lifter Up Of My Head

Psalms 3:3(KJV)

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

King David wrote this Psalm when his son Absalom rebelled against him and turned the people of Israel against him. Absolom and his gang army were determined to destroy king David, as they wanted to overthrow him. They mocked him that God had abandoned him. However, David remembered that the LORD was the only One who could lift his head up and give him the comfort he needed to keep pressing forward. King David doesn’t look to his armies or authority as king; David looks to God and cries out to Him. Throughout his life, he had seen God step in and miraculously save him from many foes when he called on Him. David knew that God was faithful to keep His promises concerning his life. David was full of confidence that God would redeem his situation, so he drew on his deep well of faith and called on God for intervention. He knew that God was a shield around him, and the all-powerful God was able to repel his enemy and would lift the shame off of him and lift up his head.

As children of God, our faith in God should inspire us because our only source of strength and encouragement comes from the Lord. We will encounter periods where we will be in a state of discouragement and despair in which no one can help us out of our troubles. It is during these times God will be our only hope and help. God’s character should fill us with hope when our circumstances seem dark and impossible. When we are experiencing our darkest hour; and troubles keep mounting, we must know that God is our only help. He is a shield of protection; He watches over us and will deliver us from every work of our enemies. He is faithful to rescue us from the depths of our despair and the hand of the enemy. Psalm 23:4 says, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” God will protect us, provide for us, guide us from place to place, and never leave us alone. He truly is the Good Shepherd, the best shepherd we could ever hope to find. As true children of God, let’s make GOD our refuge; no one else. He will be the One who will deliver us from our troubles, problems, and all our afflictions, whatever they are. God must be the lifter of our heads.

Beloved, God will be your shield and glory and the lifter of your head. Whether it is for your eternal salvation or regarding a trial you are undergoing, you must have a personal commitment to God as the One who will be the lifter of your head. God will act on your behalf. He will nullify all the malicious recommendations that have kept you under for years because this is your season of change. However, until you are willing to allow God’s Spirit to soften your hard heart and acknowledge before God that you need His help, you will not find the help you need in your time of desperate betrayal. God uses people to help us, but stop looking to people to do what you are supposed to look to God to do for you. Look to Him, for He Alone will be the One to deliver you in your trials. He is the One who will help you in your situation and turn your sorrow into joy. Today, activate your faith by spending time in God’s Presence. He has a good plan and a purpose for your life. He is at work implementing His good intentions for your life in the background. So, be a partner with Him in prayer, for He is working out His plans and making your path straight. Sing out loud some of your favorite worship songs, and you will find the truth of God’s character. As you praise Him, hope will explode inside you, and your head will be lifted high. Trust God! Invite Him into your situation, for He can do the impossible in your life. Remember, look to God, for He will miraculously intervene in all your circumstances.

O Lord, I connect to Your deliverance power. Sustain and give me the strength to not give up on you in Jesus’ Name.
